Seeing her this way made him hurt more than she could know. He hated seeing her in pain like this, and he had to do something to help. So when she said it wan’t his fault she was like this, he immediately took a few steps forward before pausing at her next sentence.

“ What do you mean? I’m here to help you, Claire, you can talk to me. ” At first he wasn’t sure what she was saying. Why would she think it would be a bad idea? It didn’t dawn on him until he saw her eyes in the light of the lamp, his own eyes widening slightly at the realization. A moment passed, and he took another step forward, speaking again. “ I’m here to help you. ”

As the demon rose to its full height, Eöl felt his heart sink to the pit of his stomach. His eyes were huge, as round as the moon that spilled light onto the clearing, and his hands, despite himself, were shaking. The demon snarled and stalked closer, its claws sinking deep into the dirt, and its red eyes bored into Eöl’s and momentarily struck him dumb. The thought running through his mind was two-fold: I should have listened to that guy’s warning, and, I’m going to die.

Somehow, he found his voice, even if he could only stammer. “Please, I-I- Don’t kill me, I- Oh, God-”

The demon laughed, a chilling sound that struck Eöl in his core. It growled, “Begging for your life? Where’s that arrogant attitude I saw in you before, hmm?” It came closer to the trembling man, pressing its talon into his throat. “You should have been more respectful when you had the chance.”

Tending to the garden she maintained on a daily basis, the flurry of snowdrop flowers were quite beautiful against the white landscape. Calico tails swishing and calico ears flickering, she hums softly to herself a hymn her mother sang to her long ago. However, all is stopped when she senses the presence of someone new. “You don’t have to hide... unless you’re here to say i’m not an Abernathy and try to kill me.” She turned her head to look in the direction she sensed them from, lightly playing with the flowers at hand.
