for the writing ask game - 2,4,9
2 - talk abt a notable time a character or narrative looked you dead in the eyes and said “fuck your plan, here’s what we’re actually doing.” : um. All The Time??😭 to be honest, i do not ever plan or outline stories. at least, not before i start writing. i write first, then feel it out as i go along. most times, i’ll get a little epiphany 3000-4000 words in, and then i’ll loosely plan everything else in my notes. but i looked through my works to try & find an example, and the best one i have is who am i (to ask for more). i had 0 plan for this. i wanted to write a scene where will comes out to joyce, and i wanted to work it into a longer story. absolutely everything else was up to the characters and the narrative. i blinked, and then i was in bed watching and taking notes on a gay-coded 80s movie that i had never seen before in my life. i literally have no memory of writing this story. it just Happened.
9 - in an ideal world where you’re already super successful and published, would you want to see movie/tv adaptations of your work? why or why not?: short answer—YES!!! i would loveeee to see live adaptations of my work, and i do go into lots of novels with the idea of a tv show or specific actors already in mind. i think i prefer tv to movies, just bc you have more space with tv episodes and you don’t have to cram everything into a 2 hour timeframe. i’d really only want adaptations if i can work closely on the production though, mostly bc i have control issues and have seen too many of my favorite books butchered😭😭 so. final answer—yes, but only if it’s done well!!
I HAVE SOME ASKS LWFT OVER but it is now 1 AM and I should sleep. so I’ll answer them tomorrow!!! Thank you to everyone who sent an ask!!!!! :D
