I forgot to make this post but I finished my cross stitch the other day!! The pattern is Hasanlu Lovers by NightSpiritStudio, and I'm really happy to have this be my first project for getting back into the hobby. To be honest there are two places where I messed up very slightly in my counting but they were minor enough mistakes that I didn't realize until I was quite far ahead of where I messed up and I could work around them pretty seamlessly. Unless you know what a perfect version should look like you wouldn't notice at all.
I'm finding cross stitch to be a very good craft to keep my hands busy while I have something on in the background. It holds that extra bit of attention I feel the need to put somewhere without overpowering my ability to take in information. I like this pattern especially because I find a lot of cross stitch is a little too cute for my taste and even the really complex ones are of things I just don't care about all that much. Realizing I could make a pattern based on any picture is really going to open up a lot of possibilities for me
