Intruder Alert [closed w/ nightxfxry]
The sonic screwdriver's whine grew steadily as the Doctor approached the door. The tech must be somewhere in this house which, by the look of it, was the house of the chief. Of course it was. 900 years of time and space and the Doctor had yet to happen upon a simple and easy retrieval of alien tech. He had no clue why it would be in the chief's house. The tech didn't really look like anything valuable or dangerous (though it was really, really dangerous), so how had it ended up there?
He slowly opened the door, peeking in to see if anyone was home. He doubted it. There was some kind of big hoorah going on that all the Vikings were attending, so he assumed that the chief would be there. Too bad, really. It had looked like a fun hoorah.
He followed the sonic's signal up the stairs and into a dark room. He let out a whispered "Ah-ha!" when he saw it on the bed; the bed that seemed a little too small to belong to the chief. Oh! Of course! The chief must have a child! That would explain it. Children were always picking up odd-looking things and touching what they weren't supposed to. The Doctor supposed that was why he connected with them so easily.
He picked up the tech with a smile. That was one Viking island saved from becoming the next Atlantis and a job well done! Little did he know, as he wondered if he had time to catch the end of the hoorah, that there was something blending into the shadows that he'd missed.
