in the best future he saw he had to "cease to exist"

aka wipe all of his memories of his past ad elio and become "Caelus".

None of the stellaron hunters,except for kafka, knew bc he always wore a mask as elio.

Only kafka knows who he is because kafka is who has known him the longest and she is who took over to care for caelus

The others arleady have a feeling that Caelus was Elio but zhey dont care to much/dont want to jump on anything without confirmation

if elio chose to lose his memories tjen it must be for the script

meanwhile

the nihility ver om the right is from a "failed" timeline

when he gets in contact wirh nihility and corroded by it,it breaks the spell he used ro supress his memories

the breaking of the soell can be caused by other things to but is primarially there so he knows the timeline is fucked.

because every future he saw that had nihility caelus ends in a horrible way that cold disrupt all timelines, and it would destroy all his effort on trying to have the fiture end well if another timeline broke in

In short,ifs a failsafe for a situation that should not happen

but in this case it did

abd the power of nihility within him can make anything that he touches become nothing(atleast with his infected arm)
