Truthfully, Renji meets a lot of people like zhimself. The orphans from the deep Rukongai, the perpetual rebels and problem children. Renji feels a certain kinship with people who are willing to get their hands dirty as much as zhe feels a deep resentment for the people who explicitly don’t. 

The downside is that not everybody Renji relates to is someone that zhe likes. And in fact there is always a reason to not go back to Inuzuri, and a reason to suspect (if even for a moment) that maybe there’s a good reason to keep people like that outside the walls, and keep people of higher purpose in.
