hey new mk fan here! ive literally only played mk 11 (going thru mkxl now as it's on game pass hallelujah!) and i saw on that post about one of sindel's intros that the writers fucked with kabal and im curious as to what they did as literally all i know of him is like i said 11 lmao

Hello, and welcome! :) Well, I’ll start by saying they made changes to his bio:

A lot of fans (myself included) loved Kabal precisely because he was a COP who became one of the Earthrealm Defenders after he was healed of the severe burns he received from Kintaro (A fire-breathing Shokan who looks a bit like a tiger.) We also saw a good bromance between him and his partner Stryker, that many MK fans liked. Here, in MK 9, he’s shown not as a greedy thug who only cares about money, as in MK 11. We see a guy who tied up with his criminal past and decided to use his skills for a good cause. And for that he decided to become a police officer.

Kabal’s MK 9 story was great, I think. But in MK 11, for some reason, NRS decided to change the story about his police service to how he already was a police officer before he became a member of the Black Dragon clan. And the idea that he’d traded his job with the police to become Kano’s lackey didn’t sit well with me. I understand in MK11 they wanted to show us what he was like when he was a thug, but they did it clumsily or something like that. Not to mention the fact that the kombatants treat him with contempt. And there’s not even a single mention in MK11 that Kabal was one of the Earthrealm Defenders.

Oh. You must have seen Kabal’s tower ending, right? And I’ll tell you, this is one of the most absurd endings in MK11, which caused a storm of anger among fans. Because the girl (her name is Sareena, and she’s a demon.) who is present in Kabal’s ending is actually already has her own love line with Bi Han (or Noob Saibot currently). It was even hinted at in MKX. And she’s never met Kabal, and she doesn’t even know who he is. Sareena’s story has ALWAYS revolved around the events of the story of Kuai Liang and Bi Han. And seeing her with Kabal is fucking weird and illogical. A particular negative from fans was that in June NRS decided to add a new description of Kabal’s tower, in which they mentioned Sareena as Kabal’s secret love, who dates him only for his money. What the hell is that??? It would make more sense if they decided to show Stryker in Kabal’s ending. This is exactly what we need and what we have been waiting for.

So, I can go on and on with this list of absurdities, but I’m afraid I’m going to need more antidepressants, than I have right now.

From all this, most a large number of posts about one character about 31 posts. And yes, all those posts about Kabal. Why am I not surprised?
