every time I play ME2 I hope there's some hidden dialogue where you can convince Miranda beforehand that Niket is going to betray her so she doesn't get as hurt but instead we always get sadness. Also, as I'm writing this I was wondering, do you normally let Miranda shoot him or do you stop her?

I know! 

And the worst part is that she says “I’m going to miss you” :/ 

I usually try to stop her, I didn’t once with my Paragade Eleanor and it was satisfying in a way. 

@ferociousqueak wrote a great post about Niket and why he’s wrong, I always remember this when I see him. No matter how self-righteous he acts, he’s saying a lot of fucked up things and is dismissing the abuse she endured.

Headcanon: Niket

Niket was not just one of Miranda’s oldest friends, but Miranda’s first ever friend. She trusted him immensely— for her standards. For years, they’ve never spoken a word. He was just one of her father’s many, many security guards, meant to keep an eye on Miranda.

Though, at some point, Niket couldn’t stand how much Henry sought to control his daughter. While he was stationed at the private university that Miranda studied in, he took the opportunity to talk to Miranda. Back then he already put himself at risk of being fired just by talking to her (which he wasn’t supposed to, no one was unless Henry explicitly allowed it). Miranda was initially stand offish, believing Niket’s worried behavior to be a trick of her father, a test. But, her desire to forge any kind of connection with someone was so great that she risked it. Niket showed her a side of humanity she never thought even existed.

Waiting in a private room within the Eternity lounge is Miranda's contact, Lanteia, who has been involved with saving Miranda's sister and her family.

It turns out something has gone wrong and someone called Niket - a very old friend of Miranda's - contacted Lanteia to inform her Eclipse Mercs are after her sister Oriana, and has offered to personally escort the entire family himself.

When they arrive to speak to the Eclipse Mercs, some unexpected news is offered, and Shep finds out Miranda has been keeping a rather important secret.
