Blog Intro-Beauty Community

Views, Likes, Thumbs Up, Subscribe, Follow, ReTweet… etc. These are all forms of actions we perform on social media platforms, sometimes without realizing it. The beauty/creator community on social platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and Twitter, were once just hobbies for most, but have now been turning into careers for many people. Social Media has taken a turn with our newest technology of always being able to have access to almost anything at our finger tips. Which can be for the better or worse within our generations now and to come. This blog is going to feature four different beauty/creator accounts that I will be following on all social media platforms. Therefore, with these four accounts I will show that not all of them have the same experience and lifestyle as each other, even though they are all influencers/creators of the “beauty community”.

One of the people I will be following is a major influencer named Tati Westbrook. She is in her mid-thirties and has been a beauty creator for over eight years on YouTube and Instagram. Tati has a major following over 4.5 million people on YouTube and 1.4 million on Instagram. She is a successful business woman aside from the social media world and recently started her own company. I believe that she will be a great person to follow for my project, because she is in tuned with the social media world as well as the business side of things outside of the beauty community. The first reason I chose her to be a part of this blog, is to show her insight from a more mature perspective since she has been a creator since the beginning. The second reason is because she posts Monday through Friday everyday week on YouTube and is very consistent with other platforms. Tati posts mainly about beauty related topics as well as speaks on behalf of her side within the community and being a creator within her day to day life.  

The second influencer/creator that I am going to be following for this project would be a girl named Niki DeMar. She is also a beauty and lifestyle creator that is in her early twenties who is on YouTube as well as Instagram. She has recently started a new series on her channel, which I believe has a great outlook on social media and the influencers that are a part of it. Niki has been a creator for over 5 years now on YouTube as well as Instagram. She has 1.7 million followers on YouTube and 2.6 million followers on Instagram. Niki is someone who people like myself look up to through social media on how she goes about her daily life and exposes the life of herself and other social media creators. I believe she has the ability to show through her platforms how social media is used for positive and negative for our generations. Nikki posts consistently to all platforms which I think is a good source to get more information from about different topics within the social community or day to day life on and off camera from herself and other influencers.

The last influencer that I will following for my blog is Megan Leigh, she is a mid-twenty who puts her life on YouTube and Instagram. She started off with just a beauty channel before YouTube was ever a big deal and now has a beauty channel and a vlog channel. Megan has roughly a million followers on her beauty channel and 400,000 on her vlog channel, while on Instagram she has 360,000 followers. Megan has been in the social media community since 2010. She has a lot of insight on how the community used to be back in the day to currently now making a career out her posts and videos being broadcasted every day. Megan is a great person to follow for my blog because she will bring us the insight of how she feels about the social media as a whole and how it shapes her life within her home life and her work life. I have already seen some posts from her expressing her feeling towards topics that will be blogged about shortly on my post… stay tuned!
