I decided to just go all-in and just create a Tim Burton-esque Barry.

Also, I had the idea for a sort of Other-Mother-esque Barry w/the idea of his skelecog looking something like the Other-Mother from Coraline, hence the teeth and the fucked up-looking hand.

Okay, so I'm not dead.

I've just been in a depressive slump lately. Sadly, no Tomodachi Life for today, but I do have these Kilo drawings that I just did.

FINALLY decided to just buckle down and post about Kilo's Granddaddy featuring both a mockup bust sketch + the general gist of what he wears, his height, and build (CW for any horror elements mentioned + scopophobia on some of these drawings).

This is Jonah T. Buck, or just Granddaddy Jonah!

A bit of backstory:

• He's actually a character that I've conceptualized since the beginning of March, and he was actually inspired by this piece of Kilo's concept art (drawn by Pandora, a former TTCC crew member; courtesy of the TTCC Wiki.gg):

• I was also actually inspired by the knowledge that Belle (the Mouthpiece) had family, and Kilo's concept art kinda looked like he was Kilo's grandpa, so the idea came to me spontaneously.

• Originally, the au was gonna be about Kilo being a "replacement" for a previous "Scapegoat" who wanted both his mechanical head and heart back from Kilo. Another au idea was to have the role that Jonah now had be given to Kilo's father (who was actually conceived before Jonah and was named Remmick). However, as I began to develop a fixation towards dark Little Red Riding Hood-adjacent media (and dark fairytales in general), the idea began to shift.

• I was also inspired by a few dark Little Red Riding Hood-adjacent video games (The Path (2009) and this other RPG maker one that had Grandma as the wolf or something???), the Beast from Over the Garden Wall, the Three Billy Goats Gruff fairytale, and this fairytale called The Seven Little Goat Kids (the one where the goat mother uses some shears to save her kids from a wolf that had eaten them), the inspiration for Jonah's red shears.

Jonah Himself:

• Personality-wise, he's initially really creepy and off-putting (and sometimes just bloodthirsty, a bit unhinged, and always with that lopsided grin of his), but when you look past all of that, he's actually closer to the "Crazy, Old, Southern Grandpa" stereotype, and is just really affectionate towards grandson (A.K.A. Kilo can't catch a break from both the sheer amount of bone-crushing hugs AND embarrassing terms of endearment his granddaddy liked to use for him).

• Also, I have zero idea on if Jonah's either a toon, a cog, or some weird third thing, but this au does subscribe to this theory I've seen floating around Tumblr that's basically like "Kilo used to be a toon before becoming a cog." I have no idea who started that theory, but it's going in the au.

• Also, Granddaddy lives deep in the woods and prefers to live in isolation in some other part of the world away from Toontown and Suitopia (think like a Grimm's Fairy Tale, almost Burton-Esque style place bc I headcanon that the world actually has different areas based on different art styles, themes, etc).
