quite insane that nílan is the one that coins the nickname vriden gerr for the player character, who then continues to allow others to know them as such for the rest of the game, despite the name's derogatory connotations. even more insane that nílan, at the end of his companion quests, names his newfound clan after the nickname he initially gave them in bad faith. as an apology. as a thank you. as a symbol of the understanding that has since grown between them, maybe a little like roots. if i think about this too hard i may need to chew on some wires

i do think that spiders does a really good job of writing companions that you as the main character have history with. most games don’t even try but kurt and constantin and nílan all feel very real… i 100% believe nílan has been my frenemy since we were kids and that we spend all our time together as apprentices and that we annoy the fuck out of each other. great writing choice
