Matilija Poppy

A Native California wildflower, the Hairy Matilija Poppy (Romneya trichocaly) is large, crinkly white with a large yellow center that attracts honey bees and other insects.  The bushes grow over six feet tall. These were growing near nimbus Dam and Lake Natoma on the American River.

California Flannel Bush

Another native California flower. Generally found in a chaparral landscape, this bush was near Lake Natoma along the American River in an area that was dredged. Flowers are three inches around and fill the bush in May and June.
