“MY FIRST EXPERIENCE OF READING OF SPRITUAL BOOK”-
“You don’t need to fix everything. Some things just have to feel. Some people you just have to let heal. Not everything you think is broken is broken”.
“Jay Shetty- Think Like A Monk”
The monk teachings talk about forgiveness, energy, living with purpose, and other topics in ways that are as resonant today as they must have been when they were written.
Monks believed that meditation and mindfulness are beneficial, that gratitude is good for you, that makes you happier. They developed these practices around these ideas long before modern science could show or validate them.
“Thinking Like A Monk” posits another way of viewing and approaching life. A way of rebellion, detachment, purpose, focus, lust, anxiety. To my mind, adopting the monk mindset isn’t just possible--- it’s necessary. We have no other choice.
This book is written in a language that can be easily understood by a beginner level reader. The content, however, is detailed and in- depth and may take beginners some time to get through.
This book help us to live a more peaceful and purposeful life; that is full of gratitude and brimming with positivity. It contains three sections- Let Go ( Negativity, Fear, and Intention), Grow ( Purpose, routine, and Ego), Give ( Gratitude, Relationships, and Services). Jay Shetty gave her live experience about how he manage his time in Ashram.
I learned many intresting and novel concepts from this book. For example, in Jay’s own words- “Mudita is the principle of taking sympathics or unselfish joy in the good fortune of others”. Jay also bring out the stark contrast between the monk mind and the monkey mind. Things like anxiety, negativity, disappointment, stress, quality of relationships, and inadequate sleep are ailments that bother most of us.
Yes, it’s very intresting to read take your time, read slowly, perhaps a chapter a day, and you will definitely find the book intresting and enriching. In the end, this is a book that offers you both conventional as well as unconventional wisdom in an attempt to make our lives better, happier, more peaceful, and purposeful. It is a book that I would certainly recommend to readers, and more importantly to non- readers because of its relevance in the current times.
