Haute Street NAILS: 4th Of July D.I.Y Nail Art
HAUTIES, Summer is officially here! This Independence Day, show just how patriotic you can be with D.I.Y nail art. It's fun, creative and simple!
Here's what you will need before we get started:
- Base coat ("Omni" can be purchased online or at Nail Supply House.)
- Matte top coat ("Matte About You," by Essie. Is sold at Target or CVS.)
- White nail polish ("Blanc" by Essie.)
- Red nail polish ("Jelly Apple," by Essie.)
- Navy Blue polish ("Man Hunt," by China Glaze.)
- Nail art paint brush in ("White," by Cm. Can be purchased at Nail Supply House. The bottles are very small with thin brushes. This is for the nail art.)
- Red nail art tape ("Nail Jewelry" is sold at Nail Supply House.)
- Metallic Stars (These don't have a name brand but can be purchased at Nail Supply House. This will be used for the nail art design.)
- Cuticle cutter (This will be used for the red nail art tape. This can be purchased at your local beauty supply store or at a consignment store near you.)
- Nail tweezers (This is sold at Sally's Beauty Supply and we will be using this for gluing the stars nail art.)
- Professional nail glue (This can be purchased at your local consignment store in the nail/beauty aisle.)
- Scotch - Blue Painter's Tape
LET'S START WITH THE BASE:
1. First paint all of your nails with the base coat "Omni." (1 coat per nail)
2. Starting with the pinky and index nail first paint "Blanc, by Essie." (2 coats per nail)
3. Next, paint the ring finger with "Man Hunt, by China Glaze." (2 coats per nail)
4. For the middle and thumb nail you will need to use the Scotch-Blue Painter's Tape. Cut a small piece of the tape off and place it on the tip of the nail. The tape should be covering the top half of your nail. Then, you will need to paint the bottom with "Jelly Apple," by Essie. (2 coats per nail)
5. Once the bottom half of the nail is dry, you will need to remove the tape and paint "Man Hunt," by China Glaze on the tip of the nail.
(Be sure to let the nail polish dry before moving onto the nail art designs.)
(Starting with the pinky and index finger first.)
6. With the cuticle cutter you will need to cut 4 pieces of the red nail art tape. We will be placing the 4 lines horizontally across the pinky and index nail. You will need to measure the pieces to make sure the red nail art tape fits onto the nail.
7. With the professional nail glue you will need to glue the bottom of the red nail art tape before placing the 4 pieces horizontally across the pinky and index nails. Be sure to let the glue dry thoroughly.
8. Next, with the nail tweezers you will need to dab a small amount of glue onto the stars and place them on the ring finger nails. Make sure to let the glue dry thoroughly.
9. For the middle and thumb nails, take the white nail art brush and draw one line horizontally in the middle where the two colors meet.
10. Make sure to let the designs dry. Once the nails are completely dry, paint 1 coat per nail of "Matte About You," by Essie!
Have a Happy 4th of July! Xoxo @NiNi_nails
