So today at work I bought the last of the Skeleton Ginger Bread Men kit things from our Halloween clearance stuff.
And then I bought a kit for the Ninja Bread Men thing, because if I'm going to make Ginger Bread Skeletons, they're going to be the Deadite Menace to battle the other ginger bread cookies, and ninjas are what's available.
And at this stage the only option for this is some December date with the boyfriend (officially having graduated from "that guy I'm seeing" at one week and both friend groups impressing the definition immediately after being told) making cookies to do bloody battle with each other.
And one of many reasons the boyfriend isn't allowed to see my blog: He sure as hell does not need to have any concept of me potentially preparing for a date potentially a month in advance. Nope. That'd go straight to his head.
Super-Stealthy! They disappear as soon as you make them
INGREDIENTS
2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
pinch of salt
1 egg
3/4 cup molasses
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
DIRECTIONS
Quietly cream together the shortening, sugar, spices, and salt. Add egg and mix thoroughly. Add the molasses and blend into the night.
Sift together the flour, baking soda and baking powder. Add to the molasses mixture with deadly accuracy. Stir until blended and chill.
Moving like the wind, preheat oven to 375°F.
Using a third to a quarter of the dough at a time, roll it to 1/8 inch or slightly thicker on a lightly floured pastry cloth with a floured rolling pin.
Release the ninjas. Transfer them carefully to a greased baking sheet and repeat with remaining dough.
Place in oven and bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on rack. Aply traditional ninja accessories with your choice of cookie decoration.,
Mainly, I added these cookie cutters to my wish list just so that someone could bake gingerbread cookies for me.
