ok im not going to suck on nintendos toes but here are my two or three cents
The console price, contrary to popular belief, is fine. Even at 450ish euros it's still cheaper than any of the comparable consoles (PS4 Pro, Steamdeck, One) were at launch. When I initially saw the specs, I was mentally preparing for a 600€+ launch for the bare console.
I am extremely excited for the Switch 2. I love that they're bringing back the fun of Wii. I'm quite frankly surprised by it as well, and it's not something I saw as a necessity for the console to be worth it. The change is very welcome, and it effectively silenced the "it's not different enough" crowd.
Not a fan of the SD EX solely because they're very, very expensive. That being said, it is a necessary update going forward and definitely something that Sony and Microsoft are going to implement in the future as well. The load times on those things are going to be insane, and in a couple of years the prices will guaranteed to be almost halved.
The game prices are insane. I expect the higher range to be reserved for first-party games, with 2nd and 3rd parties settling at a 10-30€ cheaper price point. I also expect the prices to drop by 10€ during the first year, because the backlash has already been insane. Also we saw it happen with 3ds already.
That being said, as a huge Mario Kart fan, the new game is actually worth at least a higher price. Not necessarily THE price it appears to be at now, mind you. The launch bundle, on the other hand, is at a completely reasonable price.
I predict the Switch 2 will drastically and permanently drop in price by December. My personal copium is that the games will around that time too.
Nintendo continues to overcharge with the controllers, the camera and the other extra stuff. Equally I will continue to not buy Nintendo brand stuff, especially if the Switch pro controller is compatible with Switch 2. This I honestly think is the worst part of the pricing, and will hit families especially hard. As someone who lives alone and who has no interest in C tier Discord calls on Nintendo hardware, it's not much of an issue. For anyone else, it is completely unreasonable and greedy.
Looking forward to Switch modding exploding in a matter of months.
