How did y/n meet both nightmare sun and moon? And a question to both moon and sun? What exactly are fears? Also can I hug sun and moon and y/n please?

y/n's had horrible nightmares for a long time that attracted demons (sun and moon). then they just refused to sleep causing lack of fear

and fears... are just strong feelings that keep these two full. maybe they can even have form if you're afraid enough of something.

pssst psst......how does your Nightmare Sun and Moon talk usually, like do they have a specific manner of talking? Do they have hobbies? What do they do when Y/N isn't sleeping/having a nightmares particularly? Do they just try to scare them? Do they like to crawl on the walls? Do they interact with any outside beings? Are they like annoying housecats or activley more malicious? This totally isn't for writing purposes nope :) (I love your nightmare au so much lkshfdlksghds)

they're laconic, threatening and mostly quiet unless you get them interested in you not as their victim.

oh, and maybe that'll be helpful: their voices sound like metal scraping and low growling. also they can move both with and without sound. depending on their intention.

when y/n isn't asleep they're trying to scare them, trigger them and all that. when y/n is asleep and not having nightmares nm! attendants will try to cause bad dreams by touching them, growling or telling horrid things near their ears aaand maybe leaving scratches on them.

y/n sleeps 1-2 hours anyways.

their hobby: staring at y/n from the dark.

they do like crawling on the walls. though, they can not only crawl on the walls, they can fit themselves in spaces much smaller than them for the obvious reasons.

other people can see nightmare sun and moon and can interact with them but nightmares don't leave y/n's house so they can interact only with y/n's guests (mostly scaring the shit out of them ajjsajkskz)

and, well... they more like annoying cats, yeah. i mean, they were acting dangerous (acting. dead body isn't so fearful) until they realised that y/n isn't afraid and not going to be (yet) because they do believe that nightmares are just hallucinations caused by lack of sleep.

Thinking of your nm AU reminds me of when I was much more scared of the dark and my cousin helped me by saying “Place your stuffed animals around you when you sleep. They’re your warriors so they’ll fight off the monsters!” I sometimes still do that

But I wonder what Sun and Moon will do when they just see Y/N (I guess me in that case) surrounded by their plushies and them just looking blankly at sun/moon like “back. The fack. Up.”

OKAY so

if nightmares are starved and are near to death their bodies start distorting. like, limbs lengthen, faces become more horrid and all that just to scare you. in some cases they might form eclipse by eating eachother just to survive but as soon as they get food they can separate again
