will there be any possibility of you finishing your NITW playthrough after kingdom hearts?
Hmm, I already finished NITW, so I’m not sure what you mean? Unless you mean the extra content in the Weird Autumn extension, which I haven’t gotten and I don’t know if I’m going to get to it anytime soon. The KH streams are going to go all the way until January when KH3 is out, so that still has aways to go anyway.
Night in the Woods got a pretty hefty content update, it's worth a replay just to see all the stuff they've added!
I intend to replay it, yeah! But from what I heard the PS4 version doesn’t update until next year, and the PS4 version’s what I have.
Oh! I think you already know, but if not, there's two supplementary games to NITW you should definitely play. It doesn't impact the game heavily, but they give some nice lore, and explain one little moment with Angus.
Yes, I’ve heard of both! I’d need to take a look and play them sometime, although since I played NITW on my PS4, I’m not certain if the supplementals are on the console or not?
The Aunt Mall Cop being a Cultist theory is fairly strong. Why doesn't she appear during the last day...? Along with the constant vague threats, but that one's the strongest.
Yeah, that was my thoughts as I was thinking back over the ending. She’s not in the epilogue, she seems at best annoyed and at worst a little threatening towards Mae on some occasions, and she was right nearby when the gang found the severed arm. And at least motive-wise, if she heard anything at all from Mae’s mom and dad about their money/house troubles because of Mae’s illness, that might serve as a motivation for the harsh attitude towards her…basically blaming her for her parents’ stress.
BUT on the other hand, there could be completely other explanations for all of that, too. The power of ambiguity~!
And with regards to Eide/the cultist that attacked Mae, we can see that it’s a cat silhouette, so that could be any number of possibilities…Aunt Molly, or Grandad, or Casey, or that calico cat who lost his job (not remembering his name now), or just a random townsperson that has no strong relation to anyone. I just think Aunt Molly is one of the more likely candidates. Although one thing throwing me off is that the silhouette has a notched ear, like Mae, and Aunt Molly doesn’t have notched ears, at least last we saw her.
To quote TV Tropes: "Trapping the [Cult of the Black Goat] in the mine was a really good idea. It takes them out permanently and no one ever has to worry about them ever again. Unless, of course, they somehow acquire the ability to walk through solid matter, but what are the odds of that happening?"
There's theories as to who the cult members were. Aunt Molly was possible. Maybe some of the members of the town council? Creek? Maybe some of the town members you saw on a daily basis, walking the streets? I really wish we had a "one week later" segment, maybe find news of people who have "vanished".
Yeah, looking at what’s there, it does seem like a possibility. Quite a few hints I picked out there. But of course, it’s just speculation and headcanon, as so far there’s no way to know for sure on any of them! I am really glad that her parents, Pastor K, Selmers and Mr. Chazokov weren’t involved, though!
Hey so btw after rooting around the game files the sprite used by the cult member that attacks mae is called eide (the one gregg shot) and is called a ghost and the other member sprites (most noticeably the ones with rifles) are called miners so maybe all of them are the original miners
Follow up ask the name of sprites might be unreliable because half of mae's sprites are called mae and the other half NITW cat and bruce is just called hobo and none of the town comitee have different names
Yeah, I dunno if that’s super reliable. Sometimes when you’re in the process of making things, you just name them what makes sense to you at the time, especially if it’s not something you plan on anyone else seeing.
YOU STOPPED PLAYING NITW AT LITERALLY THE PEAK OF THE GAME! When you play again you are in for a surprise!
Aack sorry, I only had an hour and a half on hand to play, and I thought I could just get through another normal day in that time! If I’m that close to the end, I’ll probably finish it tonight!
