Oh and here's Nigel (ignore the small coloring mess up)
someone asked for nizzie headcanons ?
(I’ll be following the gknd canon that Lizzie is an alien btw, I think it matters)
• For their first meeting, I’ve seen lots of cute protrayals of how that could’ve happened, but in my vision Numbuh 74.239 wanted to make Lizzie meet Nigel in an easy and succint manner by having her be caught in some teenager evil scheme in the school cafeteria and have Lizzie be saved by Nigel, that was scouting the area for threats nearby. Lizzie more or less got the plan but kind of forgot she was supposed to be playing damsel in distress half the way, so in the process she cursed all of the teenagers generations, started a food fight at the cafeteria, bit the hand of some teen that tried to grab her and kicked them in the nuts. Eventually Nigel swept into the scene and fled with her while fighting the hoard of the angry teens, the both of them introducing themselves to one another amidst the chaos.
Eventually they were sent to the principal’s office, and when the adult was more than ready to give them both detention for causing the commotion, especially with Nigel’s bad record, but Lizzie managed to sweet talk her way and manipulate the adult to let them get away with it scot-free this time. At this point Nigel was already smitten, and does this whole thing where he wants to treat her to some ice cream for saving his butt. And the rest is history :)
• When Lizzie is in a particular bad mood or when Nigel needs to make ammends with her or something, he asks Numbuh 5 if he can accompany her in one of her candy-hunting missions so he can grab an exotic candy for his girlfriend. It works like a charm.
• It’s uncountable how many times Lizzie muted Nigel’s KND communicator just so he could spend time with her uninterrupted, especially when she was forcing him to take a break after too many missions in a row. The first few times Numbuh 1 caught her in the act, nowadays she’s more sneaky about it and manages to get him to rest well before he catches on.
• Lizzie is very good at her disguise, but sometimes she can’t help herself but show some of her abilities that could be compared to elite KND operatives, and Nigel is very observant. Even his paranoid but creative mind wouldn’t ever figure out the truth on it’s own, he’s theorized that Lizzie was maybe a KND operative that was forcefully deactivated and decomissioned ahead of time due to breaking one of the rules. He hyperfixated on that hypothesis for weeks (giving Lizzie a major headache) until Numbuh 362 told his to just fucking trust the Code Module database that explicitly said she had never been an operative ever, and he eventually chilled out.
• Despite trying to recruit Lizzie to the KND cause due to her potential several times, and failing miserably each time, Numbuh 1 is secretly happy that she never accepted it. Knowing that even when he reaches 13 most of his happy memories with her will be intact makes the prospect of his inevitable decomission a little easier to deal with.
• While Nigel recognizes he doesn’t have a lot of hobbies outside comic books, he knows his girlfriend has a bunch of them, and while spending time with her, he learned to appreciate what he once thought were boring things, and became enamored with how Lizzie engages with them.
He’d keep each of Lizzie’s romantic poems safe in a little box despite finding them too chessy, learn a thing or two about gardening and planting flowers with her green thumb and although he won’t voluntarily eat her food because of her atricious cooking, sometimes he takes her out especifically to try different foods and try to appease her weird taste. (And the way her eyes shine when she’s talking about a culture from another country she’s been researching about? It makes his heart beat all funny).
Numbuh 1 even got a taste for photography with her! It’s something he keeps more private by implating a small camera feature on his goggles with 2x4 tech and unlike Lizzie, he prefers to take photos of pretty scenery rather than photographh people, animals or foods. Getting to show her his photos once he got a big enough collection was awesome.
• It’s admittedly very hard to get Nigel to go on dates with Lizzie, as there are tons of reasons why they don’t usually don’t go according to plan. First there’s the KND duty, a lot of dates were abruptly ended by an emergency call from the Moonbase. Then there’s the fact that Nigel’s paranoia can start to flare up and he’ll be antsy in places with tons of adults around like carnivals, beaches or fancy restaurants (that while manageable, isn’t ideal). Not to mention that Nigel seems alergic to doing all the romantic things and showing his love to her in public, and while Lizzie COULD cave and go to a Monster Jam with him, she’d hardly consider that a proper place for a romantic date.
In the end, the dates they found worked best for them were trips to the ice-cream shop, movie nights on Nigel’s house, going to the playground and playing on the swings and stargazing past their bedtime. Nigel still hates going on dates for finding romantic stuff boring and expensive, and Lizzie will still guilt him into going anyway after he blows her off one too many times. It’s how their dynamic goes!
• It’s sweet to consider just how safe Lizzie makes Nigel. She’s a grounding presence for him, someone brave and loud who isn’t willing to back down. Someone who can easily be twice as stubborn as him, so loud and angry at times but without a doubt so very patient with him and kind with all her grand love gestures. She always makes sure to get her priorities straight, enough that it makes Nigel also pay attention to the smaller things he never gave any mind to. She strives to live each day like it’s her last day on Earth just like him, and wants to make an impact in her own way, and he can’t help himself but admire her so much for it.
She makes it feel okay for him to be vulnerable, and being the selfless leader that’s always looking out for others above himself to make sure everything goes smoothly, it’s nice to have someone who only has eyes for him and has his best interest at mind. After grueling missions where the might Numbuh One stood victorious in the battle against adult tiranny, Lizzie was the one to look through his glasses and see in his eyes that her Nigey just needed an 18 hour nap and a good break to catch on his favorite ninja cartoons and just RELAX for a while. She reminds him that fighting adults isn’t the only goal, but protecting childrens childhoods all around the globe. And that includes him, protecting him, his childhood.
He trusted her with everything he had, and that’s because he loves her so so much.
• But Lizzie is a liar, Nigel was always Lizzie’s mission target. However, even if at first she was spending time with him only for the mission, she eventually madly fell in love in a deeper level than when she fell in love with Earth and it’s culture. Tho she only admitted that to herself after Operation P.O.O.L, getting to experience a dangerous KND mission by her lovers side while he supported her the whole way made her giddy to imagine everything they could get up to while in a GKND mission together. It made her work even harder to convince the higher ups to recruit Nigel as Earth’s Intergalactical Operative.
She truly thought it would be for the best. For Nigel, for herself, for the Galactic Kids Next Door.
• Having Nigel in her life, it makes Lizzie feel like it’s okay to be herself. Despite him being someone that doesn’t know important details about her life, he’s simultaneously the first person who’s ever looked at her and truly seen her for what she is. His courage, self confidence, charisma and assuredness of what he wants in life makes her eager to explore things about herself that she never thought she had the capacity to, he makes all the talks about soulmates and destiny seem true because being with him feels like the best moment she’s had in a long time after joining the KND. He’s so kind and patient to her flaws, encourages her to let out her anger and work through her insecurities instead of judging her and demanding her to suck it up and stop whining, and he’s so dedicated to her cause, the KND, and yet wants her despite when she pretends to hate his literal life goal.
Nigel inspired Lizzie to get back to doing the things she loved to do and had to give up for a “grander” intergalactical purpose, he inspired her to love with everything she’s got and never look back. She knows she needs him and wants him because suddenly he’s even more important to her than any organization or lousy mission could ever be, because she loves him so so much.
• Between all the times they bicker and fight, one sure fire they use to settle things in with paintball matches. My god, these two are absolute MANIACS when it comes to competitive games like that. They massacre teams left and right while threatening and dancing around each other until their final confrontation. But once their game ends and one of them gets put victorious, they have already used up all their pent up anger and have basically forgotten all about their fight in favor to gush about each other’s performance in game.
And if someone asked what started the conflict in the first place, it be something real stupid that got blown out of proportion like Lizzie making Nigel pay for an waaay too expensive dinner which REALLY pissed him off or because Nigel looked at a random girl for far too much time in Lizzie’s humble opinion.
• Giving Lizzie the access code to the Treehouse was one of the worst mistakes Nigel could’ve done, as her clingy ass takes every single opportunity to see her boyfriend and see if he’s free for a date. Nigel would come to his room to find (lovely, but too cheesy for his linking) poems and love letters that his friends would tease him endlessly about whenever they stumbled upon it. It got even worse one time when Lizzie discovered Numbuh 2’s taste for romance novels and blackmailed him into giving her occasional live updates on when Nigel would arrive back to the Treehouse from a mission so she’d have the best timing to barge in. Numbuh 5 caught on to her dastardly plan real quick but at least she got 6 succesful dates out of it in the end.
Numbuh 1 doesn’t like being teased by his friends or all that public display of affection and vulnerability and whines about most of her loud gestures, but deep down he knows he wouldn’t have his crazy girlfriend any other way.
• 5 out of 4 gifts Nigel gifts to Lizzie have some sort of spy apparatus that she has to get out. At first she tried pretending she was mad and Nigel would promise he’d never do it again only to DO IT AGAIN ANYWAY. But seriously, how could he not want a sure fire way to check on his girlfriend when he’s like a bajillion percent sure her parents are robots that are waiting for the right time to turn her into a delightfulized little robot! Or how her grandmother may be poisoning Lizzie so she won’t like going out to play on reccess!!! So he does it to be a perfectly normal boyfriend looking out for his girlfriend, and he always makes sure to bring audio bugs and spy cameras to fill her house with everytime he visits. Someday she’s BOUND to miss one and that will keep his mind at peace.
In the end, Lizzie just pretends to not see the small camera he installed in the mirror of her vanity desk, as it doesn’t have a good angle and only catches a very small corner of her room in it’s view. And it somewhat worked! He tried to bug her house less and less ever since then.
• Lizzie would always get pissed when Nigel refused her offer to help him study to upcoming tests, as he firmly believes getting kids to study outside of school is a prime example of adults trying to brainwash them.
Despite being pissed, Lizzie would totally let Nigel cheat from her answersheet lol
And I think that’s it! All the nizzie headcanons I could think of right now. I probably got more, but these are the ones that come to mind. Thank you if you read everything and if you have any you’d like to add to my colection, my inbox is always open -w-
❛ you can keep the shirt. ❜ for Nizzie since you haven't written anything for them on here??
Big Time Rush: ❛ you can keep the shirt. ❜ // Prompt // Noah x Lizzie
Pairing: Noah Jackson-McGuire (OC), Lizzie Zevon (OC)
“Bah, bah, bah-da, bah!” Lizzie Zevon emphasized the last of her own beat counting with a sliding hip-bump against her boyfriend, Noah Jackson’s hip. “Hi de ho!” Leaning forward to look Noah in the face, she matched his frown with a startled one of her own before relaxing into a smile. “What’s up?”
Noah wrinkled his nose, lips twisting to the side. He didn’t respond, but lifted his hands to adjust the earbuds situated in his ears.
“Noah, stop worrying,” Lizzie said, pressing her forehead into his cheek. “Your class was great. Lots of fun.”
“You always have fun dancing, hey,” Noah said with a click of his tongue. He leaned his head back against the faux white brick wall behind him. He crossed his arms over his chest. Lizzie attempted to wiggle one hand between his bicep and tricep, pouting when Noah purposefully flexed the muscle, squeezing the space tighter and tighter.
“So do you,” Lizzie replied. She gave him one of her brilliant smiles. “Thank you for letting me assist you today.”
“Yeah,” Noah replied, scratching at his eyebrow. “No problem.” Finally looking at her, he gave her a smile. “Ready to go, then?” He moved to stand up, but Lizzie held a tight grip on his arm, pulling him back down.
“You’re not going anywhere,” she said in response to his confused look. Nostrils flaring with the sigh he pushed through his nose, Noah said back down.
Reaching a hand up to gently tug the two stud piercings situated under his lower lip vermilion. His knees started to bounce. Two motions, along with repeatedly curling and uncurling his fists, popping his knuckles, right before the class started, that she instantly recognized - he was worried about what he couldn’t control: what she was going to tell him. How she viewed him. Whatever it was that was on her mind.
“Rhubes wouldn’t have asked you to lead the class if she didn’t think you could do it,” Lizzie reminded him. “And you did great” She crossed one leg over the other and rest her head on Noah’s shoulder. “Dak’s master classes are snooze fests compared to yours.”
“Just different dance styles,” Noah muttered with a shrug. “It just could’ve gone better.” He bowed his head and used both hands to scratch at his hairline. “It’s done, can we just go?”
“Hey.” Lizzie said quietly. She lifted a hand brushed Noah’s bangs out of his face. The frown still on his face, he looked at her out of the corners of his eyes. “Everyone said they want you to teach again, right? That’s something. Just hold on to that feeling.”
“Yeah, but–”
“Nope!” Lizzie removed her hands from Noah’s form and clapped them together. Getting to her feet, she planted her hands on her hips. “No buts. Unless you wnat to shake ‘em.” Noah’s lips parted into a toothy grin as she started doing hip rolls. Laughing, Lizzie grabbed Noah’s hands and attempted to pull him to his feet - a move he succumbed to without much protest. “You had a great class, and that’s all there is to it! That’s all I’ll hear of it!”
“Ok.” Noah moved to kiss Lizzie and, with a giggle, she turned her head to accept one on the cheek. His eyebrows moved towards each other again.
“Just kidding,” Lizzie said. She faced him and closed his eyes, tilting her head back, waiting for a kiss that didn’t come. “Heyyy.” She opened her eyes and found Noah staring at her. “What?”
“Your shirt…”
“Oh.” Lizzie looked down at the thin white button down she had thrown on over her dance bra. “Rhubes let me borrow it.” She slid her hands down the material before grasping the hem and tied it into a knot at her waist.
“It’s mine,” Noah said. “Reckon she took it from my closet. I was looking for that.” He tilted his head to the side, a curious look on his face. Lizzie felt herself blushing - he was the only guy who could make a simple look feel like it was more. “You can keep it.”
“Good.” Lizzie winked. “Because I wasn’t planning on giving it back.”
“Worked that out for myself already.” Noah gave her a pointed, amused look. “Still haven’t gotten the sweatshirt you knicked back, either.”
“Don’t count on ever seeing that again.” Lizzie shrugged, smiling. “Oversized clothes are in.”

im working on a nizzie headcanon list since my brainrot of these two is back
but while that's not out. Get some screenshots of em, as a treat. Can you guess which of these is my favorite episode?
If you have more to add to the collection, my inbox is open! Also, I never noticed Numbuh 1 had a photo of Lizzie by his bed until rewatching Operation S.N.O.W.I.N.G recently. Agh the lovelies <3
im sorry but seeing any animosity between 1x362 shippers and nizzie shippers is always the funniest thing. Maybe I'm too much of a multishipper but like, where's the problem???? Shipping common sense aside, as far as I'm concerned and my headcanons go, Rachel and Lizzie are raging bisexuals and Nigel has 2 (COUNT EM' TWO!) hands to hold his girlfriends. In a fandom with tons of queer ships and headcanons we CANNOT draw the line at polyamorours relationships, I see too little of them around here and these three sound like prime throuple material.
"But Agent! Lizzie gets jealous too often to ever consider opening up her relationship with Nigel! And Nigel probably would have a problem with people coming up to his girlfriend after Op. S.N.O.W.I.N.G!!" and while YES that's CORRECT! I think they're too dysfunctional for that FOR NOW! That's why I view this ship more of a endgame post-nizzie-breakup deal. Please just hear me out on this.
Whole GKND debacle right? Nigel pushes the button to decommission Earth, Lizzie betrays the GKND and warns Earth KND, that manage to protect themselves from the attack because of her warning. Her previous human cover is blown and everyone discovers she was an alien there to recruit Nigel. Most of Sector V and other operatives hate her but Numbuh 5, now the KND's Soopreme Leader, demands she stays on the moon base so she can help with upgrading their weapons so they can match the GKND's more advanced 2x4 tech.
And then we have Rachel.
She quit being leader a bit after Nigel left Earth and was probably sent back to the moonbase to help build battle tactics after this whole war started. And out of everyone there? She's the one that shows most disdain towards Lizzie. If she hadn't come to Earth and ruined Nigel's life (the guy she had a huge fat crush on for a while but wouldn't admit to keep things professional and also because he was taken), but ultimately they're forced to work together. Good ol' enemies to lovers deal. They bicker, fight and try to one up each other because taking out their anger one another is much easier than dealing with the grief that someone they loved is gone, possibly twisted beyond repair and now trying to destroy everything he once stood for.
Despite being soopreme leader for most of the series, we never had any evidence of the GKND wanting to pick 362 as they considered Numbuh 274 and Numbuh 1, despite her probably knowing of them due to her rank. And I think that's because she never had the best relationship/opinion of them. Rachel deeply knows that her daily sacrifices are done because of her cause: Protect children and guarantee that they don't have to fight and lose their childhoods. I best she would have gripes with an intergalactic organization that seems to be more concerned with hating and eradicating adults then protecting children themselves, and I think she'd eventually see she was right with what happened to Lizzie. Dehumanizing the operative as being "part of something bigger", saying they're important and pressuring them into their role because they were chosen out of thousands of operatives of their planet, only to force them to leave said planet and everyone they ever loved behind. Kids aren't supposed to choose if their entire planet should be decomissioned because they're "too far gone", it's prime cult mentality, and she'd eventually see it. How it doomed Nigel, how it made Lizzie almost lose it with guilt.
She starts hating her, seeing Lizzie as a parasite that only ruins the lives of those around her including herself, but as time went on, she'd also see what made Nigel fall in love with Lizzie in the first place. The grounding presence, someone loud and stubborn but ultimately with a kind heart. The big shows of affection, how she'll prioritize you like everyone's irrelevant, the bravery, the moxie. She'd see how Lizzie cares, how she wants to be better. I think eventually she'd want to help Lizzie in that journey while they fight for a common goal (saving Nigel), and I think the same goes for Lizzie.
Jealousy is founded on your own insecurities, but all of Lizzie's jealous outbursts everytime Nigel mentioned Rachel were confirmed when she actually met her. She doesn't only envy Numbuh 362 and sees her as a threat, but is also enchanted by her. She's a conforting presence, a stern workaholic who forgets she's supposed to be a kid herself sometimes, but incredibly compassionate above all else. She's independent, smart, sharp, confident, kind and level-headed. I think she'd also think it's neat Numbuh 362 also worked as a spy before. Despite having to be defensive around her and lashing out for having all the blame thrown at her face by 362, deep down she appreciates someone that represents and reminds her of the consequence of her actions.
Along them working on dangerous missions to literally save the Earth and stop a war, they'd get along more. Enemies turned to begrudging allies, then respect would make them friends, and then love would find its way to blossom.
When Nigel is finally rescued, it would be a whooole ordeal. I like to think the three of them get some time before being decomissioned, either the decomissioning age got extended by a few years because the KND couldn't afford to lose people to their own rules between the conflict going on or they were ALL accepted into the Teens Next Door, but they need that time because things are obviously going to be complicated. I've detailed how I think Nigel and Lizzie's reconciliation would go in another post so I'll spare my breath here, but in Nigel's process of getting out of the GKND'S influence, adapting to life back on Earth and reuniting with his friends, I think Rachel would be a pretty big part of the process. Aside from Sector V (his besties for life), Rachel would've been one of his closest friends and one of those who accepted him back into her life despite everything. And now that he's finally thinking about the future, he allows himself to accept the puppy crush he had on Rachel all along and acknowledges all the times he tried to mask it as just being him admiring his "daring soopreme leader".
He's trying to adapt, really, but he's dealing with trauma. They all are. And his feelings won't get less complicated. He loves Rachel, but he's still not over Lizzie- He never had the time to even get close to that point! And now both Rachel and Lizzie are dating, he should just focus on rebuilding his relationships with his Sector and let that be it, shit's too complicated and Numbuh 1's always sucked at showing vulnerability.
But Rachel is observant, Lizzie can read him like a book, and they love him. And they love eachother, so they make things a little easier for him. After Nigel is at the very least friends with Lizzie again, they propose a throuple. Nigel considers it hard, none of them have the experience with this, really. But they love each other enough to try. Now that there's no secret alien identities or any power imbalances on the way, maybe they can do better than ever!
So yeah. 1x362xLizzie !!! I think they'd be cute so I rest my case. If you actually read all of this, thank you very much! Hope you see my vision, at least a little bit ^^
guys i need G:KND to be a thing so bad. i’ve been obssessing about Lizzie so hard these days as I usually do but the fact that there will be a GKND teaser at Nostalgia Con and I can’t attend it because I’m poor asf and live in Brazil?? Ourgh I’m in pain I NEED to know if Lizzie will get mentioned anywhere in that
cuz analyzing Lizzie’s character is just so great, and I absolutely adore her evolution, here’s the Lizzie yapfest I’ve been wanting to do for a while, all in order from her first appearances all the way to our current situation with the GKND:
as much as I love her I can see how a lot of peeps dislike her, I mean, the show makes sure that our first impression of her is Lizzie at her worst compared to all other episodes that have focus on her. All her jealousy, insecurities, anger issues and demanding attitude are front and center to the point my first impression of Op. L.I.Z.Z.I.E was “Wow Numbuh 1, so girls with issues are your type???”, overall tho I found it a cool way, since it was very early into season 1, to show the confident leader of Sector V surprisingly has a weak/blind spot when it comes to romantic love?! Especially considering how unbothered he was with the fact Lizzie had used him to hurt his friends and easily forgave her and all…
At that point I honestly wasn’t looking too deep into her character as I was 100% sure she was going to fall into the category of “annoying gf with no character depth that protagonist should’ve broken up with ages ago”, as it’s what I would expect from a show from an era with more misogynistic writing- But turns out, I was a bit wrong on that assumption!
Sure, her next appearance in Operation Q.U.I.E.T also had her kind of playing an antagonistic role? But unlike the last one, she was WAAYY more reasonable. I mean, the episode established that Numbuh 1 had been doing nothing but working these last few days and considering he DID program a date with Lizzie and the others from Sector V gave her no context besides “Ah ye your boy can’t go on that date he promised he’s sleeping”, her pulling that megaphone was completely understandable.
Most of all, only these two episodes already start showing the pattern that Numbuh 1 is not a perfect boyfriend to Lizzie either. He obviously adores her and appreciates her even with the big shows of affection, but right from the start it’s clear he’s not the best at showing vulnerability (Numbuh 4 and 2 egging on him for having a girlfriend doesn’t help too lol) and most importantly, that Numbuh 1 tends to always prioritize KND work above everything else, that be himself or Lizzie.
Operation D.A.T.E is the prime example of how Lizzie’s want for affection and attention often clashes with how much of a workaholic Nigel is, even if interpreting the while mission as a date was Lizzie’s fault and she was obviously being super ignorant of the mind control plot going on, Numbuh 1’s paranoia and over prioritizing of his job made him treat Lizzie like a mere hindrance rather than his partner, which occasioned on him humiliating and yelling at her AND their mini-fight by the end of the episode (in which we discovered that Lizzie can forgive Nigel just as easily as he can despite her temper, if her immediatelly hugging Nigel after he called her brilliant once is anything to go by)
Either way, this episode was the first where Lizzie is not shown in an antagonistic light, saves the day (even if accidentally) and where my interest in nizzie as a whole sparkled. They weren’t toxic, just dysfunctional and even when it was clear one didn’t know what was the best for the other, it was clear that their care was mutual and they were just really different people showing that love in their own ways.
Her next two appearances (Operation C.A.K.E.D T.W.O and Operation L.E.A.D.E.R) also show us a bit more about her personality. How impulsive she can be, how determined she can be to right her wrongs when she sees she messed up, how she weirdly had the ability to repair the mechanical ship to crash it into the DCFDTL’s cake hinting that she’s way smarter than she looks (suspicious much?), and most importantly how her loyalties will always be with Nigel. In both episodes she tries to help him, in one she saves the day to make up for daring to cooperate with her boyfriend’s enemies and in the other she gets in the way in the name of letting Nigel rest up a bit for a change, even if she’s obviously not cut out for the leader role due to how bossy and impatient she can be (she can’t get along with the rest of Sector V to save her life istg). At least she apologized for meddling with things by the end tho, so that’s a bonus!
By this point I could also see why Numbuh 1 had fallen in love with Lizzie. She’s charming, intense, loud, has lots of moxie, is strong-headed like Nigel, is unafraid when faced with peril and yet she’s very caring and patient/accepting of Nigel’s quirks, as he’s obviously also very patient with hers. They’re not perfect but they’re honest, just right my alley for quickly becoming my OTP for the show. The sillies.
Then we get to Operation P.O.O.L, and dude, if I wasn’t in love with their dynamic before, this episode (which is probs my favorite before Operation Z.E.R.O) REAAALLY sells the deal. Through the whole thing they’re being not only adorable, but an absolute power couple. The way Nigel untenses and smiles when being reunited with his girlfriend and learning she’s fine, how Lizzie smacks the SHIT out of Negative Numbuh 1 for daring to touch her boyfriend, how they enter in perfect sync when pretending they are their’s alternative counterparts together and how they’re so horrified with the dystopian nature of the alternative world that they keep holding onto one another basically the entire episode for comfort… AUGH the cuties!!! But most of the episode I was wondering “man, if negative Lizzie was part of the DNK, why wouldn’t our Lizzie be part of the KND too??!!!!”, I mean they would probably still have hiccups in their relationship but making Lizzie part of KND would probably close the gap on a lot of misunderstandings Lizzie and Numbuh 1 have, especially since by all means, Lizzie sounds like perfect KND operative material- Either way, I brushed how suspicious that was for the time being and just assumed it was because the civilian x hero dynamic thing was just something their relationship was based on and that’s why she wasn’t included, there’s nothing wrong with a girl just wanting to have more or less peaceful life with her boyfriend, right? (Oh, that was def foreshadowing wasn’t it?)
The next appearance of Lizzie is actually a fully Lizzie-centric episode! Operation L.U.N.C.H shows us more of how Lizzie’s anger issues mixed with her intelligence and prowess while commanding KND machinery can be crucial in combat of adult tiranny, even if she was mainly fighting adults so she can have a romantic lunch with Nigel. It was honestly so refreshing to see Lizzie kicking ass and being her stellar self in an episode that focused on not her partner for once. Her compassion towards the elderly was also noteworthy, especially since we know that she has a grandmother of her own. The end gag was a bit annoying but honestly I was mostly laughing my ass off at how Numbuh 1 said “fuck everything” and listened to Lizzie’s order of staying in the cafeteria until dark- He knows best to not provoke her, knowing fully well how capable she can be.
Ah, Operation S.N.O.W.I.N.G… Considering how messed up it was of her to use the boyfriend helmet on Numbuh 1, despite her boyfriend having forgave her a long time ago, karma seemed to bite back in a special later date. Her being supportive and being the only one keeping Numbuh 1 company while he’s sick was sweet, but I really loved to see how much Numbuh 1 respects her that even if he found her soup gross and useless for now, he still kept onto it and in the end it was just the thing that helped save the day. Him playing knight in shining armor and having his heart shattered by the possibility of Lizzie not loving anymore- Ohhh these kiddos know how to make a good drama, absolutely stellar nizzie episode! Jimmy can fuck off tho for all I care. Also, I’m pretty sure this was the first appearance of Lizzie’s most notable and horrible hobby, being that she does absolutely disgusting food, I really enjoyed that addition to her character, especially what they do later on with it.
Though she does appear in Operation F.E.R.A.L and Operation W.H.I.T.E-H.O.U.S.E, it’s so little that it’s not even worth mentioning, which brings us to Operation H.O.L.I.D.A.Y. And man, I fucking LOVE rewatching this episode. Lizzie’s jealous stunt to follow Nigel into the jamaican KND resort, I know there’s a lot of people that think she was being “too much” in this episode but I honestly couldn’t disagree more, I always find most of the episode hilarious to go through and the gag of her horrible pie making everyone pass out and the whole stretch where she’s desperately trying to fly that plane on pure spite so she can scream her head off at her boyfriend for “cheating” while the hamsters panic at the back and Numbuh 1 is just absolutely dumbfounded- God it’s just so good. Her impulsivity and jealousy, no matter how much they drive Nigel crazy, always gets Lizzie in the craziest of hijinks. Gotta love how chaotic the episodes focusing on her tend to be lol
Next episode that stars the nizie dynamic is Operation R.E.C.C.E.S.S, and it’s the classic “Lizzie accidentally saving the day” deal, with Numbuh 1 promising her a date at the start of the episode and proceeding to avoid her throught the entirety of the episode with Lizzie completely ignoring the stakes of Nigel’s mission (much like Operation D.A.T.E tbh, same episode dynamic), and even if the joke of Lizzie becoming emotional not because of how passionate Numbuh 1’s speech was but more because he would choose HER and abort a mission if she chose to was a bit expected, it got a chuckle put of me anyways. But the difference in this episode from others, is that we actually learn a bit more about Lizzie in this one! Not only she’s more of a smarts girl that prefers spending her reccess doing extra credit work for school instead of playing, but she’s also works as the principal’s secretary! And again, it reinforces how despite the fact that Nigel and Lizzie are very close, they live very different lives, with Numbuh 1 being the ever school hater versus Lizzie that by all accounts seems to be a model student! Except when she makes an exception for her boyfriend, but even in that case things don’t always end up well for her.
I find it super funny that they just??? Casually dropped the lore that Lizzie got stuck at a SYBERIAN DETENTION CAMP FOR A MONTH because of Numbuh 1??? Like you can’t just drop that info and go on like that??? Where’s the context?!!! Tho I truly appreciate how much fuel it gave nizie fanfic writers, every single fic I read based around exploring that scenario is so goated I swear-
And well. That leaves us with the last Lizzie episode of the show, Operation G.I.R.L.F.R.I.E.N.D, or as the codename means, “Guess It's Realistic Lizzie Finally Realizes It's Essentially Nigel's Dysfunction”- The dreaded breakup of my comfort couple, even the best things can’t last forever.
And mind me that as much as watching this episode leaves a bittersweet taste on my mouth, it’s really fucking good episode. I especially find interesting how the episode that introduced the nizie dynamic portrayed all of Lizzie’s worst contributing traits to the dysfunction they have, while the episode that ended it shows all of Nigel’s worst contributing traits to their dysfunction. Even if Nigel WAS being sabotaged through the whole thing, as Lizzie herself said, it just gets tiring competing with the Kids Next Door, and in the end, Numbuh 1 showed time and time again, not only in this specific episode, that his loyalty to the KND purpose will always be first. The episode is beautifully written, the action scene at the start is super cool, the two dancing in the ballroom and Nigel trying to win back Lizzie’s favor even if it’s obvious he’s not interested in the wedding at all, and all the suspense built up with the scenes with Numbuh 362 and the Splinter Cell. The chase scene with the treehouse was super awesome and the sad moment where Lizzie breaks up while fireworks go out in the distance… Beautiful scenery, but it left me understandably heartbroken.
Lizzie is my favorite character from the show, tho that probably isn’t anything surprising at this point, but unfortunately despite all the little facts to her character, she’s still attatched to the role of “protagonist’s girlfriend”, and with that being the last season and there still having a huge plot point left to solve, I correctly guessed that Lizzie wouldn’t be appearing in any more episodes from that point on.
I didn’t expect anything else from the character, her flaws and qualities explored from all angles, there was nothing left for Lizzie, or that was what I thought until… The Stop The G:KND teaser.
How they gave so much depth to her character and even explained a few unexplained things about her habits and quirks is beyond me, but the reveal that Lizzie is an alien recontextualizes a lot, even if most of my previous observations stay true. Me along with the rest of the fandom put together the pieces that Lizzie was probably sent to Earth to scout the chosen Earth operative that was to join their ranks and see how strong his alliegance to the KND is.
Tho there are some people that think their relationship was entirely a ruse all along, I severely disagree with this fact, and though the literally ALL of the gestures of affection mentioned in this post should serve as proof, the most damning of all being that she forced the GKND to create that whole scenario with Nigel’s treehouse computer only so Lizzie could have a valid excuse to break up with him, he passed the GKND test so in the end, her mission as Numbuh 1’s girlfriend was complete…
I swear that when I finally grasped the character arc that Numbuh Vine went through??! Alien girl who’s obviously interested in the primitive Earth and it’s culture/people, learning how to feel loved and cared for through the bond she formed with her mission target, learning to appreciate Earth by his side so much that by the end she decided to betray the hugest anti-adult organization on the planet, one she had allied with and believed in this whole time because she decided to protect Earth.
The same Earth Nigel once swore to protect, the same Earth he decided to destroy because of Lizzie’s influence. Numbuh 1 taught her freedom from the G:KND’s radical views while Lizzie just pushed the one she loved right to their brainwashing. She of course thought she was doing it for him, but when she noticed the damage she’d done and broke free from the GKND’s influence herself, she turned back.
It’s so tragic. Their relationship at the current state of the timeline is just so beautifully doomed, that I just can’t help myself but wonder how they could explore their dynamic in a possible G:KND show. Maybe it’s silly that I wish the one character half the fandom hates to actually be relevant as her own person, dealing with the guilt of her actions and how that would repercute through her already not good relationships with the members of Sector V. How she’d try to make Nigel see sense, and man, I don’t even need them to become a couple again, or even to Nigel immediately forgive her. I just need them to talk, put everything on the table with 100% honesty for once and maybe, just maybe end things on better terms. Nigel knowing she loved him even though she hurt him so much… Urgh, the possibilities of angst are immesurable.
That being said, I really wish I could go to the Nostalgia Con. Not only for the possibility of getting a glimpse of my favorite character, but to know what the future of KND as a whole could have in store for us. It’s seriously a franchise that I hold dear to my heart, and don’t get me started on the amount of headcanons I have about Lizzie’s secret identity and about her and her relationship with Numbuh 1 as a whole, counting them all together would get you a stack that goes right through the stratosphere! So don’t even get me started on those! (But if you want to, my inbox is always open lol)
Either way, doubt anyone will read this to the end but IF you did, thank you. Hopefully I got to express half of what makes me love Lizzie so much, and maybe get you to start appreciating her a bit more than before. I’ll end things with this lovely concept art of the lovely character that she is. Cutie patooties <3
hopefully someone will go to the nostalgia con and record the thing and post it to youtube or at least tell in detail how it was here on tumblr or any other social media god pls i have hope. . .
Your Lizzie character analysis is very well thought out! I obsess over her too. She’s such a complex character yet also definitely one of those “a good character doesn’t have to be a ‘GOOD’ character” sort of things. I love her yet just keep going into cycles of understanding WHY many don’t cause her and Nigel’s behaviors/relationship were not healthy. Like one of those hard learning life experiences that’s so essential but I can’t blame you for not wanting to forgive it happening because it falls under ‘I accept your apology, but don’t have to forgive you’ philosophy.
(personal drama spoiler: Lizzie is me, that’s why I love her. At the same time it stings cause Nigel’s and Lizzie’s relationship echoes A LOT of me and my ex-fiancé’s relationship and how it took a lot of time for me to realize I had just as much fault in how things ended and blaming him/calling him a ‘terrible’ boyfriend was not only destructive to him but to me as well…)
ANYWAY Lizzie is so fascinating to see develop on a rewatch cause with all the context we have now, we can’t help start to see how she grows but also how it does end in the train wreck we see at the end and how a lot of unresolved things are just KILLING ME!!!!!
It’s probably required reading atp (/j) but possibly my all time favorite Lizzie portrayals and resolutions in the fandom is ‘Cold Reception’. I recommend it cause it reads like such a mature deconstruction/reconstruction/love letter to the series and obviously SPOILERS AHEAD but how it handled Lizzie blindesided me, destroyed me, then somehow healed me and paid off for the damages. Almost the entirety of the fic goes on and Lizzie is only mentioned in very vague passing and never really brought up and it seems like a MASSIVE oversight. The fic treats all the show’s other major/minor characters so well but Lizzie felt glaringly absent. Eventually I went “okay, given the shipping stuff, I guess it makes sense why she’s not mentioned. I don’t like it, but it’s an easier pill to swallow than just outright seeing her trashed for the sake of the main ship so whatever. Nothing is perfect.”
Then chapter 24 comes in and hits you like a fucking sledgehammer and everything is recontextualized and suddenly Lizzie IS one of the major players and basically the entire reason this narrative got rolling in the first place. Cause then you remember “holy shit, of COURSE Lizzie isn’t mentioned: most of this fic is from Nigel’s lens so of COURSE he’s gonna avoid thinking about his ex: he’s young and clearly doesn’t/isn’t ready to face it cause it brings him so much pain” and we’re SHOWN that. What we’re shown of Lizzie from then is her perspective and journey we didn’t see before and how it led to the present moment and despite how obviously the narrative should end in tragedy for Lizzie (and by extension everyone else)…it doesn’t. Instead it has Lizzie willing to confront her past, make necessary amends, learn and move on for the better. Her actions and role imo probably single-handedly saved the day because, despite all her glaring flaws, the canon series shows us how Lizzie is a romantic at heart and ties into the fic’s theme of ‘believe in the happy ending’. That stays true here cause despite it all, Lizzie continued to believe in the happy/romantic ending here and preserved to do better and make one happen even if she couldn’t get one herself. BUT SHE DOES ANYWAY CAUSE I GUESS SOMETIMES THE WODLD ISNT COMPLETE SHIT
I bring the work up cause it hits a LOT of what you mentioned in your post! There’s a passage at the end focused on Lizzie and about “how you need to UN-know yourself” that’s such a profound thing and to this day I can’t compute how the best Lizzie I’ve read in this fandom came from a fic where 1/362 was the endgame. It blows my mind.
I so so so hope we get SOMETHING about Lizzie and GKND from Nostalgia Con. Please, we’re starving here
Hm, I’ll keep this rec in mind actually! I probably wouldn’t have found this fic organically since not only I’m not a huge fan of 1x362, but also because I’m more of an ao3 kinda gal myself and I only enter fanfiction.net when I’m REALLY starved for content- But honestly the way you described her journey in this specific fic hooked me enough to give it a try
I always love me some good Numbuh 1 centric stuff, and if the first few paragraphs of the fic are telling me something is that this fic seems to have a lot of that… Probably will have to wait for when I have a good chunck of free time to read it all tho, 600k is a lot of stuff and I usually only read past 100k if the fic has really REALLY got me hooked by then.
Can I also say I really enjoy what some people of this fandom do with Lizzie’s character?? My goat sparkymouse seems to carry the entire nizie community with all the content they do, tho my absolute all time favorite Lizzie-centric fic has got to be Vines by FanFlyingFox, seeing the ENTIRE SHOW through the lenses of Lizzie and all the headcanons mixed inbetween with the knowledge she’s an alien from the start is so so awesome. I also yoinked a lot of my favorite nizie headcanons from that one so there’s that lol
Thinking about Lizzie’s potential in a possible G:KND is just so interesting because there’s a lot of ways they could do it. Considering Lizzie’s journey would probably revolve around trying to right her wrongs, surviving the consequences of her choices (even the good choices!) and trying to explore her passions and freedom after detaching from the galactic knd for good. As much as I love what we got from Lizzie in the show, she was always Nigel’s girlfriend, but making her a traitor to the GKND that informed Earth of their attack (and possibly saved their asses temporarily with that information) would make her, in my humble opinion, a huge player in the plot of Earth’s rebellion against the galactic force.
Everything in the OG show points towards Lizzie being originally a tech-expert operative, if we assume that whatever planet’s KND she came from also uses the setup Earth KND uses (One operative specialized on Stealth, Communications, Brawn, Tech and Team Lead per sector), the tech seems the one she fits more easily into.
Too loud and impulsive for Stealth, cannonically a bad leader, too short-tempered for communications and while you COULD make a case for military expertise, the only times Lizzie was able to defend herself in the series was with 2x4 tech, so there’s that.
But my point is, if Lizzie were to escape the GKND’s clutches and take refuge with Sector V/Earth KND, she would be a goldmine to Earth KND’s scientist since she’s familiar with the enemy’s tech and probably would have some valuable info on it’s weaknesses and how to upgrade their 2x4 to match what I assume would be the G:KND’s superior one.
But that also would leave her in a sticky situation, since Sector V would probably hate her fucking guts knowing she’s the reason they lost their leader and consequentially that lead him to “deciding” Earth should be destroyed.
Seeing her independent journey as an outcast trying to prove herself reliable while trying her max to reach her lover and make him see sense… It could be such an impactful storyline, also an opportunity to explore how her relationships with the other members of Sector V + other KND operatives could be when Numbuh 1 is not directly attatched to her and when she can show her true skill and knowledge. If she’s a galactic member, that means she WAS the best from her planet afterall…
The setup they made for her ARC is just flawless. And again, I don’t even NEED her to get back with Nigel when I can see their dynamic as exes being so good already, that either being the tragic side of Lizzie trying to reach out to a brainwashed Nigel while he’s forced to go against her (imagine if she’s captured and he had to interrogate her and ask her if anything they had was ever real aurgh), and also in a scenario where Numbuh 1 snaps out of it, is angry at her for all the lies AS HE SHOULD, but is forced to work together with her with the common goal of destroying the GKND?! Can you imagine their snarky passive aggressive banter??? While they keep on being a power-duo being the very competent operatives they are???
Maybe I’m just being delusional but getting all that story potential explored would make my heart implode with joy, oh please Nostalgia Con we Lizzie fans are dying out here </3
Here me out, a great possible fic idea for gknd nizie would be like them having to work together in a mission far away so essentially they would have to go on a long space road trip together. Can you imagine how AWKWARD It would be at the start? Then the simmering arguments and then the getting to know each other for real this time and having like genuine closure over their relationship. Whether or not they get back together at the end is your to you but they do at least end up understanding each other a bit more after.
That’s exactly what I’m talking about! Their dynamic as EXES. God it’s just such a good concept I swear
I love to think about how it would go, even if a bit weird at the start, Nigel would quickly learn a lot more about Lizzie just from hanging around her now that she’s openly an ex-GKND member, it would have lots of recontextualization overall, with Nigel learning all the things Lizzie omitted from him all this time and Lizzie learning all the ways Nigel changed throughout the years they spent apart.
I can see a lot of tension right away, Numbuh 1’s grudge against Lizzie might be the only thing that ever could jeopardize a mission he’s actively working in by making him distracted, and knowing Lizzie, that might be the same for her. They already argued a lot while together, but now their squabbles have that tragic bittersweetness to them, a lot of regret, doubt and anger just simmering under the surface- But I think the big elephant in the room they would’ve adressed only later after acknowledging that they still care a bit for each other would be the “Did you ever love me?” And with the “yes” coming from Lizzie, the natural progression would be “Could you ever forgive me for it?”
I’d guess the answer would be no for a long while, but that wouldn’t impede them from reminiscing about their relationship when it’s all said and done. Them having a chance to talk things out won’t solve everything right away (especially since they ARE in the work enviroment) but it will for sure make things more amicable between them. I can see them eventually just looking back at their past, on all the good memories tainted by new realizations and the ones that stayed intact and pristine in their mind with how much they wanted to cherish it.
As much as I’d love to see them back together asap, Numbuh 1 is allowed to be angry and frustrated until he figures out how he feels and what he wishes Lizzie to be for him. Their love is probably the most sincere thing about their relationship tho, so I do believe that with some time it will be able to blossom again in a totally natural way that should’ve been how it happened at first. I have faith in that.
AND!!! Imagine them just working on KND stuff in general!!! How I said in my Lizzie analysis, I do believe she specializes in the more technological side of things as an agent, but since proven when she knocked the hell out of Negative Numbuh 1, she can pack a punch! The mental image of them just working through all the issues I mentioned while kicking space enemy ass in general is awesome. Even with their rift they still know each other better than most, their battle would naturally become very good with even the smallest amount of practice, the powercouple these two are…
Thank you for this scenario, I love thinking about these two, I should totally write more about these blorbos heheh
