CIM Alumni :: 2012 Graduate Cast in Tenor Role in Puccini Production | NJAVO
Big congratulations go out to tenor Oswaldo Iraheta who has been cast in the lead tenor role of Rinuccio in the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera production of Giacomo Puccini's Gianni Schicchi.
Puccini Gianni Schicchi (Part of a double bill) Oswaldo Iraheta, Rinuccio Sunday, April 21 at 3 p.m. Bergen Performing Arts Center 30 North Van Brunt Street Englewood, New Jersey Box Office: 201.227.1030
Mr. Iraheta graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music in May 2012, having studied with tenor Vinson Cole. One reviewer definitely saw Mr. Iraheta's potential for such a role as noted in her review of his portrayal of Count Belfiore in the CIM Opera Theater's 2011 production of Mozart's La finta giardiniera (The Garden Girl in Disguise).
"A worthy match...was Oswaldo Iraheta, a young tenor just transitioning up from the baritone repertoire. The swaggering and blustering role of Count Belfiore served as a platform for his comedic skills while his voice grew even more perfect as the evening progressed. He has the potential to be a great Puccini tenor in years to come."
