How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco’s Life

This illustration is very powerful to me and expresses the article in the best way possible. The bird that is shown as the “center of attention” is put slightly off to the side which creates visual interest in a design perspective. The emotional strength is great in this image because I have been the center of negative attention on the internet as well and this symbolizes exactly what it feels like. That feeling of all eyes on you is torturing and traumatizing. This illustration makes me feel nervous just looking at it which shows its strength. I believe this illustration really strengthens the article and gives the reader an insight to the feeling of being watched and judged by an entire population as Justine Sacco, among others, have been. I also thought that the unity in having all blue birds, including the singled out one, showed that people being harshly judged on the internet are just like everyone else, no different. The color of the birds is also significant because of Twitter’s blue logo.
