Cutie Reviews: NMNL 14 March 18

I’ve got nothing to say here, so lets just get into it!

This months theme/focused point: The face °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

I don’t believe I brought this up in the last review (it might have started in this one and I just forgot tho), but the booklet was recently modified. Now it includes a more “decorative“ page for the contest featured in each month, as well as pages for some beauty tips or tricks, and featured brands and products.

I believe this is an accurate depiction to how I felt upon seeing this:

It’s a humorous looking Exercise Mask used to lift the face. It’s also a duck bill. Apparently it’s very popular, and it’s very easy to use (at least in comparison to most other facial exercise devices I’ve seen, this is also the least scary looking). All you do is insert it into your mouth and bite down on the knobs that stick out of the back 3 times in 10-second intervals. You only do it twice a day.

You’ll know its working if you feel any sort of discomfort or very small pain, which I did after the third try per-set. That’s the muscles getting their workout.

I’ve done as it instructed, at least three or four days in a row. I don’t think it made a difference, but there’s nothing actually saying how long this should be done that I know of. I also covered my face while doing it because I am very easy to embarrass >3< which sort of takes the joy out of it. But I did learn that it comes in handy cheering people up so I suppose it has it’s good points too!

It’s kind of like a weird toy for your mouth. I’d recommend it if you’ve ever wanted to try any sort of mouth toy or exercise piece, simply because it’s super-easy to use and makes for a fun accessory.

Next is a product from the brand Country &Stream. We’ve received a few products from them before (usually in a honey yellow theme :3), so it was interesting to see it’s also in Apple red too.

This is a Skin First Essence, a product that works best when applied after washing the face. Utilizing apple extract, the product absorbs easily into the skin and ups the effects of skin care product. It is recommended to use once a day for its full effect.

It’s very cute looking in my opinion, and this brand is a pretty good one. I’m not entirely sure if it does anything though. Like it says it does, but it’s not really something I can exactly see? I do like that the product doesn’t take long to soak into the skin though, and it’s barely sticky for a few minutes. It smells like a real apple too :3

I adore Hello kitty, and this adorable, pink Bath Bomb was no exception ♥ It was available in both pink peach and blue soap-scent. It contains hyaluronic acid and collagen to leave the skin moisturized.

There’s not much you can say about a bath bomb- you know unless it has a prize or made your skin feel weird, or dyed it. This is a perfectly normal, kawaii bath bomb. The peach scent was very strong though, which can be a good or bad thing depending on preference/allergies.

I normally dread eyeliner due to my inability to use it. But when I saw how cute this one looks- I couldn’t help but fall in love ♥ This is a Canmake Lucent Sherbet Eyeliner. It is very versatile and made from a waterproof gel. It can be used as eyeliner around various parts of the eye, and blended for an eye-shadow (and probably more if you’re creative enough). 

I was delighted upon realizing it was coated in glitter as well. I also noticed it lasted for a good while on my skin despite rubbing it a lot to try to get it off.

I adore the color, the shimmer, the texture... I’d be practically endorsing this thing if I could just use it right. I’m not a makeup professional though, and I don’t know if I’ll ever learn how to use eyeliner. All I can do is keep practicing and try to make it work with what I can do.

Of course, when you include Sanrio characters you can never have too many, and here we have a My Melody Face Mask with red wine scent.

Typical face mask. I loved the packaging though, and it was neat how it opened from the bottom, rather than the top. My only displeasure was the scent- which essentially reminded me of rubbing alcohol. I never drank wine before (I rarely ever drink period), so I can’t say the scent was accurate. Though someone else said it was after they smelled it. It became tolerable after a few minutes.

Our final item is a “partner“ for the My Melody Face Mask, a Slim Cat Mask. This is made from silicone, which is a popular trend at the time in Japan due to its reuse-ability. Due to its tight wrapping it also helps increase the benefits from a face mask. It can also be used during a bath to create a warming, spa sensation due to it being infused with germanium and tourmaline.

Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ 

Again it’s a weird item. But I love cats so I actually thought this one was kind of fun (even if I did get a few strange looks while wearing it). It wasn’t hard to put on at all like I initially thought it would be, and it held itself and the mask fine. It was actually pretty comfortable once I got past the weirdness behind it, and I like to believe it delivered what it said it would.

Quality/Pricing - 4.5 out of 5. I feel like the items are probably worth the price, if due to packing more than anything. We had a bunch of it, plus popular characters and brands don’t hurt either. 

Content - 4.5 out of 5. Again I really like them! I might have like one low score but it was mainly due to not noticing anything change or embarrassment.

Total Rank: 8.5/9 out of 10 Cuties. I didn’t count the theme because they didn’t exactly list one, but they said it was face-involved and clearly every item here was. I did like the products, I didn’t hate anything at all. It was a perfectly fine box, although I’m not sure I felt extremely amazed by it either? I’d say it was right in the middle.

1. Canmake Sherbet Eyeliner - It’s adorable from top to bottom! I also adore the pink shimmering product.

2. Hello Kitty Bath Bomb - It’s a plain, basic hello kitty head when you get down to it. But I am obsessed with Hello Kitty so I appreciate it regardless~ 

3. My Melody Face Mask - The mask is plain but the packaging is ultra-cute. I love the French inspiration behind it!  

4.Cat Slim Mask  - Well I mean I love cats so I have a bias. It’s cute in a sort of... creepy way?  

5. Skin Essence - I love the simplistic red and white packaging. The small bottle is also really cute. 

6. Exercise Mask  - It’s a duck bill. Nuff said >3<

I got my first NoMakeNoLife box!

Kind of on the fence with this one, but it’s a service I REALLY want to enjoy, so I’m going to try a few more boxes!

This one was about makeup.

The Oval Artis brush  I absolutely can’t pick a fault with :D I have quite a few artis brushes and they’re an amazing addition to any brush collection - or even if you don’t have any brushes! I’m not sure the price point of this one but I have a mid-range one of my own and a VERY cheap one and honestly they all seem about the same. You can grab them off ebay cheap, or expensive just about anywhere that does brushes.

Next is the Brigitte lasting brown liquid eyeliner - I really want to like this, I like the applicator as it’s soft but I’m not sure brown does anything for me. I find eyeliners nigh impossible to apply and I don’t know why :( so I think my own incompetence with them is spoiling this product for me. It seems patchy and sticky, but again that could be my own lack of experience. I feel like I’ve done better with other liners.

Then the Love Switch sweet black mascara treatment oil. It smells really nice! I can’t quite place it, somewhere along the lines of lavender and/or chamomile I think :D This is a fibrous mascara, something I’ve never used before. I’m finding it to be quite sticky and personally I don’t like clumping lashes which I’m having a problem with using this. I like my lashes to be thin but defined by the colour/have enhanced length. I’m definitely going to keep using it though!

Also by Brigitte is their lip tint- oh my god this product is so smooth and the applicator is so so soft, i adore it! It’s not a colour I would pick, but it just so happened to match my top :D I usually wear deep reds if anything, so it’s a bit bright and bit pink for me..but I like the product so much I’m probably going to scour the internet to see what other colours are around.

Last is a tube of Menturm petroleum jelly, which I kind of feel is a cop out ;s I don’t class it as “make up” at all, it’s skin care if anything. No scent, no colour. Just petroleum jelly, which, you can buy anywhere and tbh Johnson’s one used to have a nice scent to it. I would have preferred something else, even another lip gloss or eye shadow or *something*

But yeah, I’m holding out, assuming I have the money, for the next couple of boxes. They’re not bad products, they just don’t suit me :P

can you explain enyus lore and thats their perpose to es and to milgram??

See, um. Ok. So. Essentially. Idk they just kinda showed up.p.p... They were a bit of an accident but people liked them so i ran with it!! I am fully aware that dissociative identity disorders are impossible to form after the age of 12. But, I suppose it was also kinda confirmed canon?? with the voices being controlilng of them and their identity? I HAVE NO IDEA TLDR DONT FLAME ME FOR THIS PLEASE ;(

This fic is set in trial three, as a what if before i knew ANYTHING about what was actually happening. Only Mahiru died, but Jackalope (ofc it's him) got a little too silly and kinda set es over the edge about it.

Enyu is Es' alter formed to protect them from the stresses of thousands of voices constantly judging them and the stresses of their job. I didn't really know what I was getting into, so sorry if I misrepresent things!!!

Anyways, what enyu knows how to do? Work. Just work. Nothing more, nothing less. They're the warden after all. It's their job. And all they want to know is that if they do their job, them and es become more safe. In doing so, they end up being more harmful. For example, when the mirror is broken and they split, enyu refuses to get treatment for the two of them for a while. It is only until they realize that their hand is too hurt, and they have to go for treatment, that they do so. (and es is too ashamed of what they have done to mahiru to do anything either. both of them should not be in charge of a prison let alonnneee a body.)

The fic is the push and pull between the two. Let me get into the relationships.

Enyu and the audience: It's complicated. They believe that the audience is their cross to bear, as that's what milgram has ordained for them. They use we/us pronouns to try and include the audience, but sometimes, it's also to include Es in it. like "cmon let's work!" and es is like "ur literally a fucking monster bro"

Enyu and Es: hooo boy. these two... well, they dont like each other? But enyu cares intensely for es. Think like an older sibling working continuous overtime for a kid's college fund except the kid does not want to go to college and also. something bad happened that the older sibling refuses to acknowledge. Enyu likes to try and comfort them, but when they actually start telling Enyu why they dont like them and milgram. That goes against Enyu's ideals, so they stop it and just kinda don't do much. Es despises Enyu. They kinda blame Mahiru's death on them both, but Enyu does not have the grief necessary and continues this cycle. Es also has passive suicidal ideaation so that's a really fun thing to add to the mess. Enyu believes they are the savior of them both but they are in fact not. they're probably makign things worse. Es believes Enyu has naught but bad intentions. kinda like mikoto and john in a way. And they never really fully acknowledge each other's existence.

Fun facts about the two!!

Es is like. regular canon es in a lot of ways. But, they're not being given any chance to grieve normally. because they feel like they're only furthering this cycle, because they know they're completing all the work... they cant get out of their room, they're not in control of anything, and it sucks. And theyre partially in denial about having an alter. so. um. they think they just black out and do that shit. 

Enyu is aware of es. they just think that es is a weak idiot who is too weak to accept milgram. But they have the conception that "oh i cna save them. I can help them. We will become one with milgram" and they do not accept constructive criticism.

but enyu also has a pretty dulled sense of taste. AND, combined with a big sweet tooth. they do not lose that. They would get a drink that's like 100g of sugar as a reward if they do their job rlly well and then es would come to front, see how unhealthy that shit is, and throw it out, and then enyu would totally not be really upset about that.

also enyu does not go by the name of enyu. they go by The Warden. but that's a mouthful. They prefer to have their title as their #1 label. and they don't mind "it/they" as pronouns.

I love talking about them so feel free to send WHATEVER asks about ANYTHING EVER. that aside, I actually have been writing stuff for es t3 but not had the motivation to finish it for some reason??? But I'm low-key kinda getting back for my writing... just a little busy :3

This is what I've made (in my head):

- they get in complete denial. Just. They don't believe it. They cant handle it. They talk to the air and pretend the homies are still there. They get aggressive and beat prisoners a LOT if they talk about how they're dead/try to reality check. steer clear of them bc oh my goodness.

- throw themself into taking care of the other prisoners. Ok so this is what my brain is going to right now. This is what I'm personally wanting to write. they know the others are dead, and cope by becoming a helicopter warden. hell yeah muu is GOING to eat. They do not care about the prisoners person feelings in a lot of the matters. You'll see, I make this happen in one of my upcoming fics :33 (they have their dad's savior complex 🥺🥺🥺)

- indoctrination. you will see. (Current WIP)

- nmnl au. HOLY SHIT. so it turns out. uhm. Shidou was the only thing keeping them alive. So I wrote something. So this is what I was planning on writing, but IDK if I can do it anymore (#15000 WIPS) Lil bro is gonna bandage their own hand, not get the glass out, get it infected, LOCK THEIR DOOR BC PRISONERS SHOULDNT INVOLVE THEMSELF WOTH THE WARDEN. then proceed to SLOWLY DIE AND THEY HEAR OCCASIONAL KNOCKS BUT TBE KNOCKS GIVE UP AND THEY PASS OUT. bed ridden from fever. They don't drink water. they start to hallucinate Haruka, Shidou, and Mahiru talking to them, comforting them in their delirious state. Then, es comes in, and just stares down at them and says that its all their fault. They die, last words being "but wasn't I a good warden?". So uh yeah I may or may not write that but you can have as much fun as you want imagining that idea 😉😂😂😂😁😂😁💡😁😉💡😂
