Prayer for October 1st
Heavenly Father, please protect our children from harm. There are evil people intent on taking away their innocence and causing them damage. Protect them from this danger and give people the courage and strength needed to keep them safe. Lord, we pray that a revival would occur in our children and that they would be a growing testimony to the goodness of Jesus Christ. It’s in his mighty name we pray. Amen.
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time
- 1 Peter 5:6
Without surrendering and being obedient to God’s commandments; worship will not be pleasing to God.
I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to run from what I feel called to do. It reminds me of Jonah—how he tried to go the opposite direction, thinking he could escape what was meant for him. But in the end, he still arrived exactly where he was supposed to be.
It makes me wonder how often I do the same thing. I delay, I hesitate, I distract myself… but deep down, I know that purpose doesn’t just disappear because I avoid it. It waits. It follows. It finds me.
Maybe I can postpone obedience, but I can’t outrun what I was created for. And maybe the real question is—how much longer do I want to keep running?
Need a chavrusa? Lucky you, I am compiling material for a series of blogs for parsha!
The goal is to, each Shabbat, provide warm and welcoming Torah talk. I offer my notes and insights throughout the chapter, and then share them with you. I strongly encourage you to participate and engage in the wonderful Jewish community on Tumblr (I'm new, but I've seen quite a bit so far) through my page. I, myself, am seeking weekly engagement to talk Torah and just be Jewish.
The posts will begin in October, after Simchat Torah. I really look forward to the conversation! Remember: Argue, for the sake of heaven.
