YEAH NO SHIT. CHAPTER 1 KONGO SAYS HIS KIDS - BESIDE HIBARU AND TERASU - ARE 'too grown-up and consumed by the gang's interest' BUT WHO EXACTLY MADE THEM COMPETE BY TYING THEM UP SO TIGHTLY TO THE NUMBER BY WHICH THEY GOT ADOPTED
WHO EXACTLY MAKE HIS 9 Y/O KID COME BACK FROM HOKKAIDO ALL THE WAY TO TOKYO (and Hibaru may have been 8 and spent his birthday somewhere else)
NO WONDER KID N.4 AND N.7 DIDNT SHOW UP TO YOUR FUNERALS. THEY EITHER DIED OR HATE YOUR GUTS.
I don't know if I ever explicitly mentioned it, so I'll do it here and now
So far, one of the most certain things we know about Goshiki is that he has a fixation on enemies and allies
Another thing we know, about Terasu this time, is that he's the biological son of one of Kongo's enemies - and that he didn't get rid of that 'title' 6 months in being adopted
--He was still called this way by the rest, assuming this is what Hibaru means when saying 'everyone'.
And that may have gradually faded after Hibaru came back home - albeit it never truly went away (because why would it) - but.
Isolating Goshiki's reaction from the rest at the funeral, wouldn't there be a link between those two things? Because sure his statement in Terasu's flashback can be seen from neutral to derogatory, but nonetheless he's the only one explicitly describing Terasu using 'enemy' somewhere in his speech - Hibaru later on aside. Which could mean that - at least partially - Goshiki's reaction (which is more expressive among the siblings who were waiting to hear who was appointed as successor) could stem from the fact that, he didn't fully move from considering Terasu as 'the enemy's son'(and perhaps he does so completely neutrally! He may have no issue or problem with Terasu at all! But he just can't look beside that in this context)
And. overall? The other siblings don't seem to react much. Shio is, of course, angry, and there's Terasu who didn't expect Hibaru to lie and name him out of all people - but if Goshiki's reaction comes from this 'enemy//ally' fixation (or mindset or whatever) he has then...
Then that doesn't help my mind thinking Goshiki himself is the biological son of an ally or an enemy (but I lean toward ally - probably for variety. But if it's an 'enemy's son'-situation2, his spontaneous) 'refusal' toward Terasu being named the next boss would also stem from his own situation - which leads to what his dynamic with Kongo was but. that we do not know one bit about for now)
The Daybreak Ore is similar to a nuclear bomb, Kinpa's parents' death (and her mom finding out what it was truly for) probably slowed its development, and the Yotsurugi and the government worked together to create it. Or smth.
The eldest sons know about it, Reri doesn't but she doesn't seem invested in the family's business, and Kongo went 'yeah let's give the family reins to my two only minor sons who have no idea what's going on'
Kuran and Kou don't seem to know either, jury is still out on Shikaba and Taira, the missing kids could be linked to Daybreak Ore creation or smth
Ah, and also, ain't no way Ginji doesn't know about it all
