23 Republican Senators & 124 Congressmen signed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court asking for a 50 state ban on mifepristone, a drug safer than tylenol that is standard treatment for abortion & miscarriages, "due to safety concerns". The brief DARES to argue that banning the life saving drug would save women from 'reproductive control'. (x) These 147 people would rather have women die of sepsis than let women control their own bodies. If your representatives are on this list, call them and tell their office you will be voting against them in the next election because they asked SCOTUS to throw the US medical drug system into chaos at the cost of American lives.

Beet Poot's Angels
Hi all. this is a rare personal-ish post from me. Every year I participate in the National Network of Abortion Funds Fund-a-Thon (formerly called the bowl-a-thon).
This year I am on my own team fundraising for Clinic Access Support Network in Huston, TX. Their first $15,000 is matched!!! Last year I raised $200. I would really like to make that and more. $250 is my goal.
Iām fundraising till the end of April. If you are feeling so kind donations are so so so appreciated. If you canāt donate reblogs are also great and perfect and wonderful!
Bowling for choice
Our Donation Total!
Now that all the books and patches have been printed and shipped, we can announce the total amount that theĀ Comics for ChoiceĀ campaign raised for National Network of Abortion Funds, after expenses: $21,678.59! That's incredible, thank you all so much! NNAF's Executive Director, Yamani Hernandez, told us this about the impact ofĀ Comics for ChoiceĀ and our donation:
"We are amazed and deeply touched by the effort, artistry, and abortion stigma-busting working that went intoĀ Comics for Choice. As the protagonist of one such story featured in this collection, I am honored to both be portrayed by an artist, and equally honored for the National Network of Abortion Funds to be the recipient of $21,678.59. This level of funding is the equivalent of supporting approximately 60 abortions, paying for gas for hundreds of rides to clinics, or bringing a group of abortion funds together for a convening on how to organize their base. Itās easy to itemize the amount of care covered by this endeavor but there is no way to quantify the power ofĀ Comics for ChoiceĀ has had in increasing visibility and accessibility of abortion stories. Weāre not at all surprised that the book was in such high demand, because people everywhere need and want to see abortion stories in all of their complexity, nuance, and truth. This is how cultural change happens."
It has been our great honor to support the important work of the National Network of Abortion Funds. All of the contributors who came together to create the book, and everyone who donated to the campaign, made this happen.
Thank you for your support!
š The Comics for Choice IndieGoGo is live!!!Ā š
Comics for Choice is anthology of comics about abortion. Cartoonists and illustrators have teamed up with activists, historians, and reproductive justice experts to create comics about their diverse personal stories, the history of abortion, the current politics, and more. Proceeds will be donated to the National Network of Abortion Funds. Together with 70 member funds around the country, NNAF works to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access, so that everyone can have full reproductive choice.

Why WeāreĀ Supporting the National Network of Abortion Funds
All proceeds from the Comics for Choice IndieGoGo will be donated directly to NNAF. Here's why we're partnering with them, with pictures!
NNAF works with 70 local abortion funds around the country to help people with financial and logistical barriers to abortion access.
Abortions can be prohibitively expensive, and we stand firm that no one should be denied this right because they can't afford it.
The Hyde Amendment blocks Medicaid from covering abortion, which means many low-income folks won't have help from their insurance.
Many clinics have closed because of medically unnecessary state regulations, which means more expensive travel and taking more time off work.
Mandatory waiting periods make getting an abortion even MORE difficult and expensive. Childcare can become a problem. Abortion funds can help with these obstacles.
Because of these barriers, and many other reasons, people in need often can't get abortions until later, and late term abortions mean more expense and fewer clinic options.
The reasons people seek abortions are as diverse as the people themselves. All are legitimate, and none should be denied because of cost.
Raising money for the National Network of Abortion FundsĀ will transform many women's lives in a direct and profound way...
...while helping to fight for the political and cultural changes that will increase access for everyone.
Thatās why weāre supporting NNAF! Donate now, and get rewarded with a copy of Comics for Choice!
