27: Do people ever call you by your last name?

Like “Mr. Latham?” Not so far. (I think I’d rather not be called that anyway.) However, back in high school some of my classmates had a habit of calling me by my full name, so every time I ran into them they’d say, “John Latham!” I mean, there are a lot of Johns in the world (they seem to like gathering in bathrooms and lining up against the walls), but I was still confused by it.

45: Do you believe exes can be friends?

I think it would depend on the reasons why they became exes in the first place. I don’t think it’s possible to skip friendship and jump right into a lasting relationship, because friendship is the kind of solid foundation needed to make intimacy less awkward. Friendship that naturally evolves is a very powerful kind of friendship, but there are things it can’t endure, like cheating or dishonesty. Some relationships can simply run their course and go back to friendship, because that’s probably what they were meant to be. Others lose friendship as well because the things that made them so compatible simply aren’t there anymore. It’s a question I think can’t be answered with a broad “yes” or “no.”

55: Where are you going on your next vacation?

I have no idea when I’m ever going to have a vacation. The last one was to Disneyland four or five years ago. My friends and I have tentatively discussed going places together, but it all depends on how much time we can get off from work. All I know is that it would do me a lot of good to just get the hell out of this place, if only for a little while.

93: What physical traits do you look for in a potential interest?

One of the first things I usually notice with women is hair - I have a particular thing for red hair, but that isn’t a requirement or anything. Everything else comes afterward - most of the time, anyway. To be honest, most of the women I’ve found attractive don’t really resemble each other all that much, so I’m not sure I can say I have a definite “type.” A girl I liked in high school had long, curly blonde hair and a slightly pale, sharply defined face. A woman I liked in college had short curly red hair, freckles, and was at least half a foot taller than I. A woman I like now has long, straight black hair that partially covers one eye and a very smooth, personable face. They can’t be categorized, cross-referenced, or patterned. (Well, there is one non-physical trait: they all have boyfriends. :(

116: Are you happier single or in a relationship?

I think I’d need to have been in a relationship first to answer this one >_<
