Maybe because he’s frowning in thought, Carlos starts sliding his thumb and forefinger soothingly along TK’s brow and down his nose. “Feels so good,” TK whispers. “Yeah.” He begins to snuffle. “You’re going to make me sneeze though.” “Oh, sorry,” Carlos laughs lightly, bending to kiss the bridge of his nose instead. TK tugs on Carlos’ shirt, raises an eyebrow playfully. “Take all this off and lie down on top of me, will ya?”

My grandmother died this week from COVID pneumonia. My father died 3 years ago from COVID. Both in good health, taken suddenly from me, no goodbye, and who could still be here today.
