Lulu and friends take a dim view of people who support recasting over the artists who created our hobby. Buy legit, always!

Legit BJDs Under $100
I got inspired by the below livestream to make a list of BJDs--other than the obvious ones that get passed around--that I know that are under $100 USD (not including shipping). Please watch the video below if you’re a newbie, and not aware of BJDs like Resinsoul.
Please note, I'm NOT COMPLETELY sure of the authenticity of all the dolls I'm about to list, but I'm at least 85% sure they're legit and made by the artist selling or made with permission. (PLEASE PLEASE tell me (gently) if I’m wrong.)
Also, note I haven't bought from any of these myself yet, so read the reviews and do your own research. I'm just one of those people who really likes tiny dolls, so I did a bunch of searching. I am in no way an expert in anything.
Not all of these exactly fit the BJD guidelines of DoA, but they are at least BJD-ish with strung joints and made of resin or another kind of plastic, as far as I understand.
Btw, NO BULLYING ACCEPTED ON THIS POST. I don’t wanna hear drama here, nor do I wanna hear people shaming people for lack of money. I’m making this list as a resource for those who want cheap legit BJD dolls, so keep it kind here.
ON TO THE LIST:
- QuirkyQritters (On instagram. This artist is currently teaming up with Frappzilla to create cheap BJD options for people. They also have a number of other dolls, but these are the ones under $100.)
$65-85 Pebble the Garden Troll 10cm: https://www.etsy.com/listing/841334405/pebble-a-tiny-3d-printed-bjd-garden
$80 Seaglass the Micro Mermaid 9.5cm: https://www.etsy.com/listing/729505907/seaglass-a-micro-mermaid-3d-printed-ball
- Frappzilla (On instagram. Known for lovely MSD sculpts, artist is releasing monthly "Bloom" doll kits throughout 2021 that are under $100, however these are INCREDIBLY difficult to snag at the moment, as they are very popular and sell out quickly.)
$50-70ish Dandelion Bloom Kits 14cm-ish http://www.frappzillastudio.net/dandelion-bloom.html
- ArtBjdDoll (a number of sizes available, also sells the 3d model if you want to print it yourself. Sadly not available in many colors, comes unsanded, and eyes might not be interchangeable in smaller sizes. The smaller sizes listed below fit sort of into 1/24 scale and 1/12 scale respectively No male options available.)
$70 11cm / $90 16cm Human BJD Doll: https://www.etsy.com/listing/850042831/new-bjd-doll
$60 11cm / $80 16cm Human BJD Doll: https://www.etsy.com/listing/768043053/bjd-doll
- DollArtbyJulie (a number of options, including 3d printed add-ons for vinyl dolls like monster high, if you mod them, these come unsanded unstrung in kits you must put together yourself, they also have very obvious print lines that you cannot sand away. They have a pinterest collection of owner shots if you want to see more.)
$25+ 16cm "Adult" Doll/Creature Kit: https://www.etsy.com/listing/254969922/3d-printed-bjd-adult-creature-creator
$20+ 12cm "Chibi" Doll/Creature Kit: https://www.etsy.com/listing/240930214/3d-printed-bjd-creature-creator-kit
$15 Blind Box Kit: https://www.etsy.com/listing/777312279/big-sale-blind-diy-sculpt-kits-limited
- D.luonto (On instagram. They have a number of video-game inspired pieces. Seems to mostly just post dolls to their ebay shop as they are made. Takes customs but prices may vary.)
$60+ BJD Cats: https://www.ebay.com/usr/9917397
??? Other options: https://www.instagram.com/d.luonto/
- MissNekotaku (Mentioned on the video, but I wanted to showcase the humanoid BJD doll they make. Check out the shop for a lot of very endearingly quirky creatures including dinos, birds, etc)
$88+ “Faérhinà” Elf BJD 12cm https://www.etsy.com/listing/911880299/bjd-doll-faerhina-resin
$88+ “Sparrowïd” Bird BJD 8cm https://www.etsy.com/listing/871308935/bjd-doll-sparrowid-resin
- RostovWorkshop (plenty of very cute 3d printed animals that come unpainted and unsanded with options for sizes if you want one sized for your dolls. This is the one I’m most on the fence of if they’re legit or not.)
$40+ Bunny BJD: https://www.etsy.com/listing/787451249/bjd-rabbit-bunny-articulated-doll
$50+ Cat BJD: https://www.etsy.com/listing/781230017/bjd-cat-khao-manee-articulated-doll

$180-200 BJD Doll 16cm by BJDSvetaDolls (Check them out on ig as well, beautiful 1/12 scale dolls (1/12 is usual dollhouse scale) that come with faceup, clothing, eyes, wigs, etc, creator also regularly sells clothing that fits the dolls, has several female and male sculpts, offers a large variety of skintones, and takes customs.) https://www.etsy.com/listing/943875930/bjd-doll-elf-delintaara-resin-16-cm
$180-200 BJD Doll 14cm by ZjakazumiDolls (More realistic 1/12 scale doll, also accepts customs, has plus size models, elderly models, baby models, all in female and male. Come with faceups, eyes, wigs, but you can find dollhouse clothing on etsy for them.) https://www.etsy.com/listing/280904228/112-bjd-doll-real-female-proportions
$250+ BJD Doll 7.8cm by dreamchildrendoll (1/24 scale dolls. IMPOSSIBLY TINY, but beautifully made. More for dollhouse nerds than BJD collectors, but still worth mentioning.) https://www.etsy.com/listing/908520304/124-scale-not-painted-blank-male-bjd / https://www.instagram.com/detisnov/

Please keep adding to this list, but keep in mind the point of this post.
#2: cuddle time! take a photo of your doll having a snuggle—with another doll, a pet, a toy, or maybe a dakimakura, so people can ask them the same question they ask us when they see our iples and granados...you know the one
Recast master list
The links to L/S and how to purchase have been removed per the content authors own volition. the only links on the page are to the original company site (where applicable)
the girl who mounted in the omnibus on Flickr.
I meant to take other pictures but the carpet in our building is being replaced so I dashed out and took advantage of the atypical backdrop...
(also protip TS Eliot not always very nice, girls who ride the bus can also go to the opera)
Françoise is a Volks SDGr Una.
Stop putting 'recast' in your bjd photo tags, it's attention whoring.
Oh wow, I’ve not even had a tumblr account for a month, and I’ve already gotten my first lovely anon ask!
Anyway, I’m guessing anon here is referring to the “no recasts” tag that I put on all of my own doll photos! I also put “legit only”, but I’ll have to suppose they weren’t searching for legit dolls when they stumbled onto my photos.
Well, anon, I hardly think doing what little I can to show I support artists over art thieves constitutes attention whoring. I am not particularly eloquent, I’ve never been interested in the raging drama surrounding the recast debate, despite having a firm pro-artist stance, and I actively avoid confession blogs. So many others are much better at putting the pro-artist/anti-recast argument into words than I am, and the very least I can do is show my support through a couple tags on my pictures.
And really, I’ve only even made 10 doll photo posts since starting this account! That doesn’t seem like very effective attention whoring, now does it? ;)
