What I’m Working on!
I’m attempting to make this a daily progress thing for this piece. For Senior Thesis, my teachers are requiring us to post things on Instagram. I hate Instagram. It doesn’t let me post multiple images at once, or post from my laptop. So while that is still going on, I decided I would share some of that process the way I want to. This piece is fanart (shocker) of Mulan. Disney’s animated Mulan is having its 20 Year Anniversary. This piece is to celebrate that fact; especially since Fa Mulan has had such a huge impact on my life (she is literally the reason I started studying Asia.) Its also a critique on how Disney markers Fa Mulan to young girls. I am incorporating ideas from Mulan’s real story, Mulan: Rise of a Warrior (2009,) Maxine Hong Kingston’s version of Mulan from the ‘Woman Warrior,’ while add some of my own interpretation. My point with this is for there to be no line between being a warrior and being a women. Welcome to In Progress: No-Line
