Waking up on the third day, Jo is floored to discover once again she was being tossed out on her ass. She had a shout in her throat, prepared to throw a tantrum on whoever ordered this, but fought against it after seeing another person lying in front of the door.
Jo recognized the outfit, donning the eight insignia on his jacket. After a few confusing seconds, she was keen to him being another tribute. The two had never met, but under these circumstances, they would be sure to never meet again.
Leaning in closer to his ear while he slept, Jo thought to channel her frustration into her boot. She winds back her heel and drives it into Noah’s ribs. “Good Morning!” she shouts with another follow up boot.
Noah’s eyes tear open to the unwelcome greeting, becoming more frantic as reality and pain hit. “Who the hell, what the hell?” He groaned as he held onto his side, motioning for her to stop. Jo did no such thing. Instead, she opted to channel her fury into her bat. She swung it down to his arms, but this time the boy was ready. Noah threw up his hands and luckily caught her bat in his grip. The sting of the catch went ignored as Noah struggled to get it away from his new attacker. Jo tried to get the control back, but his strength proved to be bigger than that of the girl from Twelve.
“Ok,” Jo spat as she tugged. “Just give it back.”
Noah raised his brow, “So you can hit me with it??”
“No. So I can kill you with it.”
Noah’s smile broke as he freed the weapon away and jammed Jo’s belly with the blunt handle. Jo felt the bat make contact with muscle, it smashed her entrails together like a rogue freight train. She nearly vomited under the blow, but at the last second choked back the bile and swallowed it whole. The first meal she’s had in two days. Noah could feel Jo’s disdain for him grow as he sluggishly climbed to his feet, managing his fractured ribs.
Seeing as he went from no weapons to one, Noah sought to take advantage. He swung the bat at her head, striking her shoulder instead as she attempted a weak dodge. Jo was now distracted by the pain, screaming and cursing at Noah. The boy swung again and struck his target: her kneecap. As Jo’s crumpled body hit the ground, she gasped for air, but oxygen eluded her grasp. She hones in on her injured knee and accesses the damage. Although not broken, her left knee was surely out of socket.
“Funny how that works, huh?” Noah taunts.
“Fucking savage.”
Noah advanced faster than Jo expected, leaving the girl to make a choice. Jo hastily hyper extended her left leg and proceeded to keep it straight. With a punch, she painfully crunches her kneecap back into place. She winces with pain while Noah watched with a fell gaze. He’d never seen something so barbaric or grotesque before. Jo proved to be unhinged faster than anyone anticipated, despite her ability to remain bitter. She feasted for relation, hoping to bring about the great pain onto her new enemy.
With a holler, Jo used the wall to limp upwards and launch herself at the poor boy, colliding with him into the opposite wall. Noah’s hands drop the bat and wrapped themselves around her exposed throat. He proceeds in trying to squeeze her windpipe closed, hoping to asphyxiate Jo before the battle can get too rough. Jo chokes and thrashes around for air while trying to break his grip. She repeatedly fails in trying to over-powering him, but In the midst of the struggle, suddenly remembers the diamond shaped paperweight in her pocket. Her face goes red as the blood vessels begin to pop.
In seconds she will lose consciousness.
With one hand preoccupied on Noah’s, she stretches her other hand and manages to clutch the paperweight within her fingers. Like lightning, Jo bludgeons the diamond against Noah’s forehead. His grip immediately falters as well as his glasses. Jo sighs in relief trying to regain her balance and air. Noah goes low and attempts to recover the bat, but Jo reaches it first and tosses it out the bay window to their left.
“So now what,” Noah pleads while holding the rushing blood from his forehead. “We both don’t have a weapon.”
Jo scrunches her lip, “I wouldn’t say that.”
With a wink, Jo reaches into her right jacket pocket and reveals the taser. She switched it on, allowing the electrical clicks to reverberate throughout the hall. She now had some advantage. As the news settles in on Noah, he wildly attempts to attack Jo. Charging her fist first, Jo once again fails to move. Noah slugs her in the face, busting open her bottom lip. Noah pushes back and holds her hand that held the taser. Jo is no condition to continue fighting. After Noah’s powerful blow to her head, the girl is lucky she can still stand. Despite the haze, the two struggle in holding onto the taser, taking turns in exchanging blows and flipping advantages over to one another.
“Drop it!” Noah shouts.
Jo growls to his call, “You drop it!”
With a surge of adrenaline Jo sends a knee to his stomach and frees his grasp from her wrist. Noah recoils backwards and takes off, sprinting back towards the front door, but not before Jo lurches forward and grabs ahold of the back of Noah’s pants. She pulls him to the tile, smacking his chin on impact. Jo crawled on top of him, pinning him to the ground by her knees to his back and punches him in the the back of the head. Untucking his shirt, Jo then plunged the taser onto the soft side of Noah’s bare skin. Jo cackled right next his ear as he gurgled from the charge. His breathing weakened as he felt himself divested of the taser. Noah finally stopped moving after a few seconds. Jo rids herself his body and shows no signs of stopping. She flips him to his back and lifts his legs, tucking them under her arms. Thinking back to training, she tosses her body weight backwards and by momentum sends Noah flying to the bay glass window.
“See you next fall… semester,” Jo scoffed after shoving Noah’s fine ass into the window that shattered on impact. Through a glimpse, Noah saw the toss coming, but wasn’t quick enough to evade the blow, nor was he prepared for the sheer force which propelled him out the window. His mind had only moments to realize that this was going to hurt… a lot. His body, arms outstretched, came to a sudden halt after landing on the concrete outside of the college. Looking up, his last sight in this world was Jo, smiling through the window frame. Noah, body covered in shards of glass, died on impact. Along with his cannon, the sickening crunch of the window pane crashing down echoed through the halls of the college. Jo collected herself with one more task at hand. Walking out the broken window, she emptied Noah’s pockets and collected the keys, not a bad day she thought.
