“ —— while i am sure she is quite tasty, i do have a need for her. so i recommend you let her go, before i rip your baby fangs off. “ katherine stepped closer to get a a proper look at this vampire currently munching down on a human, she had been planing on meeting, but the vampire was the exact opposite of what she thought.
she had thought she would be faced with a fledgling ——— a newly turned vampire. the others inexperience had been clear to her, even before seeing the scene in full. ( it was the amount of noise that gave it away. ) the idea of having to deal with one was putting an annoyed expression on her face, but it fell the moment she got a clear view of the vampire.
"Why can't you just - be a decent person?" Drunk Elijah questions Esther. "When you came back to life - the... the first time - I was happy. Then you tried to murder us all. I didn't like that." To put it politely. "Stop messing with our lives - and torturing me. That - that was rude-" Elijah, please sit down away from either of your parents please.
A decent person. That was an interestingly naive turn of phrase. Unfortunately, he seemed to still lack a grasp on the reality of the situation, that sometimes one had to compromise any urge to be Kind in order to right previous wrongs and lead the way to a better tomorrow.
His lack of direction and of conviction was a death knell in her decision to uplift their family from the murky depths to which they had fallen.
"My sweet son." For a moment she regarded him. She could have waivered and simply run a hand through his hair, offering a hollow apology. But that would have been pandering to him. Instead, in sharp contrast to her previously soft tone, her fingers grasped his chin, tilting it up as she looked at him evenly. "You make my point for me." Had he been human, the force with which she pushed back as she released him would have knocked him from his seat, and she straightened. "You are a macabre shadow of my son."
this is a starter for @noblcbrother because elijah was sad because of tatia
‘’ why such a long face, my love? ‘’ tatia asked while entering the room. she moved herself gracefully towards elijah, placing her hands gently upon his cheeks. ‘’ did something happen? did someone upset you? ‘’ she hated when elijah felt unhappy, because she did her best to make him feel happy - happy with her.
@noblcbrother ASKED “You know we’re gonna see each
other again, right? This isn’t the end of our story.”
𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐄 so certain? Hayley was in trouble and not in the same way as past incidents had been, where she would find solace and answers in the quiet of his apartment. This wasn’t some simple business arrangement gone awry or a disagreement that could be solved with time and distance. She felt eyes upon her, ones that weren’t from the common enemy of rival families. These eyes were in the form of law enforcement and it would only be a matter of time before she found herself with metal bracelets on her wrists and metal bars blocking her path. What’s worst, in her mind, would be for him to share in that in any way, shape, or form. He wasn’t as informed as her, had far more hope than she could ever contain, and believed it possible that their story could continue to grow, rather than end abruptly. “ I wish I could believe that. ” She really did. “ But on the chance this is the only night we have together, I would rather us end our story happily, wouldn’t you? ” They didn’t have to dive into what might happen in the near future, what fate might befall either in due time. They could write a better end than that… perhaps one that could even prevent them both from parting. “ Marry me… ” It wasn’t as romantic as one would imagine a proposal, but it ensured he couldn’t be used against her and could lead to them having a story that continued to grow. “ Marry me, Elijah. ”

Viking Colony of Present Day Mystic Falls, VA.║995 AD
The small colony that had fled Norway to start a life in the New World lived in relative peace. What they didn't know was that their homeland across the Atlantic was enduring a time of great turmoil. The Viking King, Olaf Trygvasson, was converting his people to Roman Catholicism ━a choice that didn't sit well with the pagan Vikings. He used bloodshed and violence to persuade the kingdom of Norway, which worked well in his favor. The Vikings were known for conquering lands beyond their boarders, and Trygvasson wanted to be sure he had control over all the settlements that had originated under his banner. When he learned of the colony in the land to the west, he sent scouts to retain what information he could. The word he received in response, didn't please him in the slightest. The colony wanted to live separately, free to continue worship of their own gods away from the Catholic Church.
Unbeknownst to Trygvasson, the scout who had returned to tell him this, was a man who prided himself on being a hunter of beasts. A very particular beast that the king knew not the existence of. The hunter knew, without a doubt, that this colony was compromised of those very creatures he knew as werewolves. He told the king whatever he could to be granted a small army and return to "persuade" the wayward colony to yield and convert. To his great delight, he was given this and set about gathering the most ruthless group of warriors 【 thirty in total 】 that he could, having no intentions of persuasion in his plans. He aimed to eradicate the word of monsters and he saw this colony ━men, women & children ━ as nothing more than that.

Blood was pounding in his ears, blocking out all sound save for his own rapid breath. Fear gripped him, keeping his eyesight focused only on the brunette boy in front of him as he ran. He was going at top speed, but he couldn't feel his muscles over the adrenaline. Around him, there were the muffled sounds of shouts, people running and even the occasional scream. Niklaus was only sixteen and he'd never before known such terror in all his life.
He followed after Elijah, finally able to stop and catch his breath once they came crashing through their household's doorway. His blue eyes were wide and frantic as they searched the home for his family. His long blonde hair was tied back in a loose plaint that ran down his back, flyaway strands hanging in his face and clinging to his sweat-beaded forehead from the mad dash.
《 ❝ Oh thank the gods ! ❞ 》 Esther exclaimed as she saw her two boys. She stepped away from the table she was working at, a clear alter being set up.
《 ❝ They're saying it's an army, ❞ 》 Niklaus spoke up, his voice hoarse from being so out of breath and shaken from the circumstances. 《 ❝ No one knows how big, but they're headed here ! ❞ 》 It couldn't have been a more inopportune time for a raid to take place. Mikael had taken Finn on a hunting expedition and they weren't expected back for another week at least. He and Elijah were appointed the men of the household and while Niklaus wasn't sure how his big brother felt about it, he knew that he was downright petrified of the imending doom.
As if on cue, there was shouting heard in the distance. The raiders were growing closer. Esther's eyes widened. 《 ❝ Rebekah, Kol and Henrik ! You have to get to them. They went to the field to play. I need to stay here, work with the other witches to put up what shields that I can. Go ! Get to your brothers and sister ! ❞ 》
Niklaus felt his heart drop. The field that they often played in was a distance away. He was sure they were safe for the time being, but he and Elijah would have to traverse the battle to get to them. There was only one sword left in their house, he was sure Elijah would take up that. He grabbed a quiver of arrows, slinging it over his shoulder before he felt his mother's frantic hands grab his arm. Her voice was low but her eyes were wild as she pleaded with him, 《 ❝ You mustn't use that against another human. Not under any circumstances, do you understand me ? ❞ 》
Niklaus stared at her like she was absolutely insane. The shouts were getting louder, and now piercing screams could be heard among them. Time was running out. 《 ❝ No, I don't. If they're in danger━ ❞ 》
His mother shook him hard, willing him to heed her warning. He was already a couple of inches taller than her, but the action was enough to make him wince. She pressed her palm against the pewter starling that hung around his neck. 《 ❝ ANY circumstances ! Now go ! Both of you ! ❞ 》
Niklaus was stunned, frozen to the spot with his hand gripping the wooden bow tightly. His father commanded that he be a ruthless warrior, that defending one's family is the greatest honor, yet here his mother was telling him not to lift a hand. It was conflicting and confusing for the teenager as he tried to fight through the chaos in mind.
