counter offer: the au where dana did adopt tim and they live together after everything goes wrong and they grieve and grow together and everything is beautiful IT IS TOO LATE FOR THESE SAD FEELINGS, PRO.
Oh god it would be a beautiful mess because, quite honestly, Dana is clearly somewhat sensitive. She had a complete mental breakdown when Jack was murdered. (Not that she didn't have the right to grieve, and her action were clearly justified and understandable.)
And I imagine it's a lot of somewhat radical mood swings and Tim asking Dana to take her meds and good weeks and bad weeks. Weeks where Dana starts running again and cooking healthy meals in the crock pot of their rented flat. And then weeks where Tim pleads with Dana to get out of bed. To take her medication and go to her therapy appointment. To go for a walk with him. To help him do laundry. Something to get her up and moving instead of just laying in bed, staring at the wall.
And part of me thinks that Tim would have to lie again, about being Robin, because could Dana handle that? Would she phase out one time and tell someone?
Or how Dana probably has PTSD, and she hears the bombs and the explosions echoing around in her head and if something is too loud, like the time the garbage truck backed up into a parked SUV and the crunch of metal and the explosion of glass sent her into a panicked tailspin.
I have a lot of feelings about Dana Winters.
