Ok so this is me mainly wanting to get my thoughts out. Opinions and stuff are always welcome, I wanna know other people's thoughts, but yeah otherwise I'm mostly talking into space.
I noticed there's a lot of divide on Flynn writing Sonic Frontiers. A lot of the fandom is excited because yeah, the IDW comics are pretty enjoyable. The art's great, there are some really fun and interesting moments, the writing is also definitely a step-up, etc. Also yeah, the writing for the last few games have been less than stellar.
But there are some people less excited about him writing as well, and have some (valid, imo) concerns.
I'm not much of a writer but writing for a comic isn't like writing for a game, I don't think. Pacing is the main thing that comes to mind for me.
Also Flynn does have a habit of showing favoritism to certain characters and uhh.. I guess capitalizing on the wrong traits and characteristics for others, for lack of better words. Ex. The ongoing issue with Eggman being a brilliant evil scientist, sure, but according to Flynn is also very shortsighted? Which I don't really agree with.
I may add more to this later I'm tired lmao That's just the initial thoughts. I think the main thing I just really want to point out is that both sides are valid in their views?
You can believe Flynn is a good writer and still admit he still has faults n biases/not feel the need to defend every single thing he does. Criticism is allowed. On the flip side just because you might not like his writing doesn't mean it's gonna be a dumpster fire.
Idk, I just think we can be optimistic about Frontiers but also cautious about it.
