Talking of... After quoting the first verse in my first post this song has been in my head all fucking day. As torn up and full of sadness and anxiety over your well being as I was, this song had me wanting to smile and dance all day.
On guilty pleasures
I don’t have guilty pleasures because I don’t feel guilty about the things I find pleasurable. And neither should you as long as you and your partner(s) are safe, sober, and it’s consensual.
(Those under 18 and animals cannot give consent.)
Being a size queen, yup, not ashamed. Loving the movies Urban Cowboy and Saturday the 14th, yup, okay with that too. Being a cis-gender dyke that loves Tom of Finland’s art, yup, it’s all part of who I am.
Stay true to yourself.
I don't believe in guilty pleasures. If you fucking like something, like it.
Dave Grohl
One of my favourite things about the Danish concept of Hygge (pronounced hoo-ga) is the absence of a direct English translation for it. Hygge is not a way of life nor a set of rules to live by, it is a feeling. A feeling that we long for and find difficult to grasp, yet we have all felt it. A feeling that we cannot simply explain or translate, yet it is about simplicity. People used to know how to be happy before religion and science and life told us how. Hygge recognises this and reminds us how to celebrate life's simple pleasures, whatever they may be. And if you're not sold by the cosy & soothing promise of Hygge, it may win you over by its zero tolerance for guilty pleasures. As Dave Grohl puts it, "If you like something, fucking like it." If eating an entire pizza to yourself while binge watching Netflix brings you warmth and happiness, then go for it. Find your Hygge. 🌈🌈🌈
In my opinion, the most ordinary things, the most common and familiar, if we could see them in their true light, would turn out to be the grandest miracles... and the most marvelous examples.
