A hundred thoughts were barreling through her mind as she stood there looking at the man she'd hired to protect her. She could see the worry on his brow and the intensity of how he looked over her body. She was sure that it was to see if she was fine. No, she wasn't fine. Charlie wasn't sure if she'd ever be fine again but it wasn't time to rest. She needed to go right back to work. How could she rid the world of what the NFFA created? She didn't know if people, mainly the elite would go back to the world before the Purge. All she could do was try.
Charlie's eyes were focused on Leo's, trying to let him know that she was as fine as she could be and that she was strong enough to keep going on. The moment he let her go, her legs went out from under her, but she still didn't fall. He'd placed them right back around her waist. "I'm fine, Leo. I just think I'm still broken up from the wreak and I think the adrenaline is wearing off."
She reached up, her fingers pushing his hair back off of his face, as her eyes focused on all his wounds. He was hurt bad but she knew his story from before. It wasn't the worst shape he'd been in and he seemed to be able to stand on his feet. She walked with him as they moved to the first pew and she sat down.
Instantly the paramedic came to her, leaving the young woman they were helping before. She shook her head and motioned for him to go back and that she was fine. "Help them all and when you're done, then you can look at me." The paramedic turned to Leo.
"You're her bodyguard correct." He waited for the man's answer. "Then I'm sure you know how to check vitals and how to look her over and bandage wounds. I'm worried since she was in a reck that she might have a concussion and doesn't realize it. If she wants me to help all these people first. Then you've got to look over her." He smiled, "I can't have the next president dying of an injury because I didn't make her a priority."
Charlie shook her head as the man placed his case down next to Leo going off to continue looking after the young girl. Reaching out, she placed her hands on Leo's and squeezed. "Hey, I'm fine. If you can help me, then you can help these other people instead. I'm not anymore important then they are."
She huffed, rolling her eyes at Leo's words. There had been a lot of reasons she'd hired him but one was that he could be just as stubborn as she could be and wouldn't let her boss him around if it wasn't in her best interest. Charlie raised her hands in surrender. "Okay Okay... I got it. You can bandage me up and get me back home... well or to a hotel. I'm quite sure my home has been wrecked." She chuckled, "hey." She leaned in and pressed a soft chaste kiss to his lips. "Thank you."
