Noises
Dirthamen has a whole series of hand gestures to communicate silently when he doesn’t feel like or can’t keep talking. But he also has a much smaller series of noises that he uses exclusively with Falon’Din to communicate various very specific wants/needs. Whimpering is often his only indication of physical pain, and the shorter the time span between whimpers, the worse it is. Otherwise he hides his pain not out of secrecy, but because the typical “I’m hurting” body language doesn’t come naturally to him. Not always, but sometimes - if Falon’Din is too focused on something to notice one of Dirthamen’s quiet mental pokes, he does make a small noise, somewhere between a whistle and a chirp, to announce his presence. It isn’t that he’s afraid of startling his brother, necessarily, though that’s the justification he’d give if asked. It’s more a courtesy, letting Falon’Din know he’s close. He has an “I want to be cuddled” noise typically used when he wants Falon’Din to come to bed and his brother is too busy elsewhere; it’s rare that he’ll pester Falon’Din while he works, but Dirthamen does, rarely, get needy for affection. It sounds somewhere between a low whine and a purr, and is typically delivered by standing in the nearest doorway and refusing to move until Falon’Din relents. It’s a quiet noise, easily ignored or overlooked if his brother needs or desires to do so, but insistent. When he doesn’t greet Falon’Din with a quiet “brother” or “vhenan,” but still feels energetic enough to make a sound in greeting, he’ll hum. It’s a very specific two-note hum that conveys both “hello” and “I’m not up to actual words at the moment.” It’s a step above a silent acknowledgment across their bond.
That last bit at the end of roars are definitely a Principal sound, especially in Strife. But these are much more reminisce of another great beast in the universe of STRIFE The Harbinger
A lot of Principal’s ambient vocals are very ethereal; sounding like distorted string instruments. When angered, it sounds like the grinding of rusted metal, but usually, this is their ode when calm or idle.
General communicative noises.
