When I was a kid, my mom ran a country club (sort of - it didn’t have a golf course) and every summer she took us to work with her every day. It meant early mornings and no sleeping in like my friends. But my sister and I also spent our days (and those often included weekends) in swim team, taking tennis lessons and playing in the pool (you should have seen my back flip off the diving board). There were lifeguards we had crushes on (I’m lookin’ at you, Dan DeRenee), tennis lessons that didn’t sink in because I was too busy being googly-eyed at the tennis pro and friendships forged with kids from other neighborhoods and schools. To this day, I can hear a late 70s/80s song that was a summer hit and be transported right back to a lounge chair by the pool. My first wedding reception (I’m on 2.0 now) was the last event held there before the organization that owned it turned it over to the city. Now the pool is gone (the grassy field in pic 2 is where it once was). The weekend wedding receptions and holiday parties I worked once I was old enough are distant memories. But I still love walking by when I’m back home. Such sweet memories to think back on. -WKC #isthisheaven #noitsiowa (at City of Johnston) https://www.instagram.com/p/BmlTxw8gW72/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=40ged2j9dj59
