Allow me to introduce you to the Nokia Oro – Nokia’s new filthy rich smartphone that the company, one of the world’s leading mobile phone suppliers, plans to release later on this year.
Oro translates to gold in Italian; fitting enough for this smartphone which, with its 18-carat gold finish, literally swims in the stuff. The gold is applied drop by drop in a unique coating technique which forms what Nokia describes as, “a film so fine it follows every contour.” To accompany its gold casing, the Oro is trimmed with hand-wrapped Bridge of Weir™ leather, adding a comfortable, classy feel. The icing on this techno-cake, however, is the sapphire crystal home key set right at the heart of the Oro. Of course you can’t have the 18-carat gold phone, without the 18-carat gold Bluetooth headset – that would just be ridiculous.

The Oro is basically a Nokia C7 dressed in really expensive clothes, except the Oro is pre-loaded with the latest version of the Nokia OS Symbian operating system “Anna.” The phone features an eight megapixel camera, wi-fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB. The Oro also comes with a 3.5mm audio jack and a 3.5” AMOLED display among other features.

One other factor that adds to the Oro’s luxury is its exclusivity. Nokia has decided to release the Oro in select markets and in limited quantity. It is expected to be available in European and Asian markets later this year, around the third quarter. A fairly heavy price tag comes attached to the Nokia's new luxury phone. The Oro weighs in right around $1,200.
