Bubbly || Eli & Grace

Once you turned 21, not drinking at parties stopped being a cute cliché. Nobody used to mind when Grace turned down alcohol--some commented that she was a rule-follower, a goody-two-shoes, she smiled and adjusted her purity ring and they’d croon about what a good, religious girl she was. She managed to make it two more years with only minimal eye-rolling in her direction; Coke in ice tended to throw people off enough.
Now, fully 25 and past her innocent Disney Channel years (and past their contract dictating her behavior), Grace had trouble turning down drinks at parties. Depending on the party and its host, getting drunk was an expectation; at this one, hosted at White Lies with an open bar, it was downright inevitable for most attendees. Two hours into the evening and Grace was bored out of her mind. Watching B-listers and arrogant directors make a mess of themselves and their drinks was less than titillating. She was sitting at the bar, still nursing her first champagne, glancing at her phone and wishing for an excuse to leave early without offending anyone or upsetting her agent. She was supposed to be here to mingle and make connections, after all.
