My first trans protest as a non-binary identifying person. We shouldn’t have to be fighting against torture aka conversion therapy in 2022. It is “utterly abhorrent” according to the PM but the ban only applies to LGB people and as we know there’s no LGB without the T. It should be 100% banned. This was the first event I’ve photographed in 2 years that wasn’t backed by a client and I felt anxious about photographing people. Am I out of practice pointing my camera at strangers? It’s an odd thing to practice when you think about it. Important to document life though. Still, I felt uneasy. I need to process that. I had a wonderful time though. I’ve never been to a protest where so many people compliment your fashion choices. 5 or 6 people did so. That’s 5 or 6 more than at other events. It was amazing. I felt more confident wearing a skirt, tights and makeup than using my camera. Fascinating experience. Oh and a big thanks to the people who walked and talked me back through town as I’ve never walked through the busiest part of the city in my non-binary finery before. Only the edges. Thank you for making me feel comfortable and the discussions. 💜 #TransPower #banconversiontherapy #NoLGBWithoutTheT (at Liverpool) https://www.instagram.com/p/CcvwjoBOtZN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
