This is pre-milo milo, and I honestly dig it. They used Nujabes’ Tsurugi No Mai to rap over, which is easily one of my favorite Nujabes songs. It's mad dorky, but in a good way.

Song of the Week: Milo - Sweet Chin Music (Fisher King's Anthem)

At the start of the year, Wisconsin rapper Milo dropped a pair of EP's "Things That Happen At Day" and "Thing That Happen At Night", each behaving as one side of a singular LP. For the most accessible standout track of these releases, I'd direct you to the confessional, Wallflowers-inspired Folk-Metaphysics. Sweet Chin Music, however, is the opener track and a synopsis of what to expect from this wily intellectual's mix-tapes. Featuring a sharp-witted, idiosyncratic production style, lyrics constructed around his endless list of personal favorite things and a bewitching knack for spoken word, Milo moves past the awkward game of pretensions artists play in sub-genres like "nerd rap" and strives for objective truths and strikingly raw emotions. Avert some of the over-saturated love both coasts get to discover one of underground hip-hop's most lyrically intimate, complexly referential and charming rappers hailing from the mid-west. And yes, that's Bon Iver he's rapping over.
