Thinking about them... one day I'll get this au in a postable state I swear.
Decided to get Spike’s hatching out in a small series of sketches.
When the sisters and Novo went outside to talk, the ever curious Twilight wanted a closer look at the egg. And while she is just as inquisitive as her Prime counterpart, she severely lacks the same level of education about the intricacies of magic.
So when she picked up the egg, she didn’t bother looking for what magic Celestia left on the egg. And like the falling of the first domino, Twilight’s clumsy magic set off a chain reaction.
One blast of uncontrolled magic later and Twilight was looking down at a tiny dragon. The baby was all smiles and cooed and gurgled just like a tiny foal would, reaching up to be picked up. She couldn’t help it, she had to pick him up.
Luna was the first through the door after the magic blast. And to her surprise, there was Twilight holding the baby dragon, looking very nervous.
After making sure they were both okay, the sisters then had the privilege of telling Twilight that by being the first thing he saw and then holding him, she had imprinted herself on him. In his eyes, she was his mother.
I fully support anon’s idea of her being captured and enslaved. The rest.... Not as much on board.
I prefer the idea that she escaped, got caught up with the wrong crowd for a while, perhaps some raiders. But when she was commanded to kill a pony slave, she rebelled.
It’s now her life’s work to free other enslaved ponies.Perhaps she’s even built up her own band/herd and they make a living stealing from slavers and other unsavory types.
Tia and Luna trying out their unicorn disguises for later in the spring when the mountain passes are finally free of the many feet of snow and ice, fierce howling winds die down and the windigos are fewer and weaker.
The first signs of spring bring mixed feelings
Not all fun and games and snuggles for Twi. She’s desperately missing home and her family. She’s stares off into the mountains that separate the forest from the steppes, waiting for the snow to melt enough to pass through them, even if that’s several months from now.
With little to do in the cold winter, storytelling was the best way to pass the time. Luna was quite happy to tell embarrassing stories about Celestia, much to her sister’s chagrin. It at least had a nice side effect of getting Twilight to relax around them.
