I haven't posted in a few days. Thank you everyone for your kind words about Gus. In addition tosculpture and making jewelry, I have a love for saving and refinishing old or tired furniture to get more mileage out of it, and rebuilding things to be home accents. We moved a lot growing up. It was daunting, but every house we lived in felt like home, even if we were only stationed somewhere for a year. My house's walls have felt relatively empty since I moved in, but I'm slowly filling them with art and places for crystals, favorite momentos, dried flowers and feathers. I'm a little obsessed with #minwaxstain their #jacobeanstain is what I use on almost everything for my house. Everything here was refinished after removing chalk paint, or removing decades of lead paint, or bought unfinished. This stain gives such depth to the color of the wood. It works a little different on every type of wood, but I love the richness of it. The unicorn is sculpted with minwax filler putty set in the sun for a few days to disperse oils. I threw stain on the plaque, then hit with quick dry poly. Next time I try this will try marbling it to copy grain and using a series of anchors as a grid to build on, or work on an armature drilled into the plaque for anything of depth. I have so many ideas. #sculpturesketches #nomorechalkpaint #stoppaintingoverantiques #saynotoshabbychic #justsayno #thisDIYisnotforeveryone https://www.instagram.com/p/CB2NMNcFtnv/?igshid=1llz8tq6yz69g
