The little ginger girl in the third Santa Clause (Tim Allen. You know the one) movie gave out warm hugs before it was cool.
@nomorefrozen reblogged your post and added:
Grey is a million times better than Elsa
Especially since Gray actually has good character development.
:’) Anti-Frozen blog yet all you talk about is Frozen and defend it. Bitch, eat my asshole and piss off.
I feel the need to rant and explain why I feel like facepalming to infinity and beyond when people claim Elsa is so much better than Jack Frost or when people ship them because they have so much in common.
Backstory :
Jack has one, a very interesting and dramatic one, which also explains why and where he got his powers from. Elsa has none whatsoever.
Family relations :
Jack protected his little sister, saved her life and died for her. Elsa almost killed her little sister TWICE ( or thrice if you count that she sent a huge snowmonster after her seconds after shooting ice into her heart ).
Powers :
Jack's powers make sense. He has them for a reason. He can control ice, frost and snow. He can cause blizzards, ride on the wind and spread fun. Because he's the Spirit of Winter and the Guardian of Fun. Even the wild sleighride at the beginning of the movie is picked up at the end again, where they escape from Pitch that way. Jack can't create life but he can create temporarily moving frost animals, not randomly, but to make Jamie believe in the guardians. That Jack needs the magical staff as conduit of power and can only fly with the help of it and the wind actually makes his powers far more realistic and interesting. There's no doubt he could turn the whole world into a new ice age if he wanted, but he's a good guy and has his powers under control.
Elsa's powers are totally random. Controlling ice and snow, okay. Creating pretty dresses out of nowhere, nope. And don't say her dress is made of bendable thin ice, ice doesn't work that way! In „Frozen Fever“ she can magically change the colours of her dress and have flowers appear. WTF. Everything she does with her powers is only meant to make the audience go „Ohhhh, wow, pretty!“. You can't tell me that someone who can't control their powers can suddenly create an ice castle in just a few seconds. That she only looses control when she's scared also doesn't count because when Hans and the guards attack her in her castle she IS angry and scared and yet has PERFECT control all of a sudden. Creating a living snowman and the little snow...creatures...whatever in „Frozen Fever“ ( who oddly don't melt even though they don't have a snow cloud over them like Olaf ) was only added to have some wannabe funny and cute sidekicks. Getting a cold in the short...seriously? The freaking SNOW queen? You wanna tell me oh-so-great Elsa sat in her frozen room for around 15 years, walked around in her ice castle in a thin dress and never got a cold until now? She seems to be able to do anything she wants with her powers, even the stuff which doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Only there to impress. Mary-Sueish much?
Courage / Attitude :
Jack does everything to protect people. When they flew to the Toothfairy's palace he didn't hesitate to dash forward and save one of the little fairies from the Nightmares, even though he didn't even know her yet. He went right after Pitch several times, dashed forward again the moment Sandy was attacked and protected the guardians from Pitch. Even after he was outcast because they thought he had betrayed them he came back to help them and made Jamie, the last light, to believe in them again. Without Jack the guardians would have been screwed. It's been made clear that Jack suffered from being alone, without making him whine and cry about it all the time like a certain snowqueen did. But he still didn't give up, even after 300 years of being ignored by everyone. He still spread fun and tried everything to gain people's belief. He refused to be a guardian at first because he was unsure about himself and whether he was qualified for this job and feared the responsibility. But he still helped the guardians. And don't say that was just because they promised to get his memories in return, he could have gotten them on his own without even bothering to join them. Pitch had broken his staff and thrown him down the ravine. He could have given up right then but no, he fixed his staff to be able to fly and fight Pitch again. He didn't know if and how he could do that, he simply tried it because he knew he had to do something. During the final battle he realized Pitch had gotten stronger than him, but he STILL fought him and when everything seemed to be lost and Pitch asked who was going to protect them Jack was the first to step forward. Even though he knew he didn't stand a chance. THAT's courage and loyalty right in your face!
Elsa cries, hides and runs away the moment a problem occurs. After freezing her entire kingdom she had no problem to leave her people and own sister behind. She only cared about herself and „letting go“. When Anna found her and told her about the eternal winter her first reaction was self-pity and instead of at least TRYING to find a solution all she did was whine and cry „I can't do it!“. She didn't bother at all! Instead she went into her dramaqueen-mode and shot an iceblast into her sister's heart. And what's a good reaction to this? Why, yes, sent a gigantic dangerous snowmonster after the injured sister! Even after Hans dragged her back to the castle all she has in mind is running away again. She sees in what bad shape her kingdom is, that people will most likely freeze to death and she still doesn't even TRY to stop winter, nooooo, she causes a horrible blizzard instead, making it all even worse! Oh, and don't blame it on anxiety and depression, she's simply a selfish coward. Apologies : Jack apologized several times in the movie. When he talked to Tooth right after Pitch kidnapped the fairies ( even though it wasn’t his fault at all ), in the Warren he apologized to Bunny for calling him a kangaroo, when Easter got ruined he apologized because he hadn’t been there to fight the nightmares and after Pitch broke his staff he apologized to Baby Tooth for being unable to warm her up. Elsa almost killed her sister a few times, ignored her for years, argued with her, froze her whole kingdom, left them to die and ran away countless times. Did she ever apologize? NOPE.
So yeah, I know that Frozen is the most successfull animated movie ever and Elsa has an insanely huge fanbase but sorry, that doesn't change my opinion. Success doesn't equal quality. Her pretty looks and sparkly dress don't erase her screwed up personality and that so many people see her as role-model is really disturbing.
What kind of friend would you prefer? A smart one who makes you laugh and is always there for you when you need them, even if you chased them away, and is willing to protect you with their life? Or a self-centered whiny one who keeps running away from every problem without even attempting to solve it and refuses to talk about what's bothering them while continuing to pity themself?
Am I pissed off because „Rise of the Guardians“ didn't remotely get the fame Frozen did? Yes, I am. It had its flaws as well but it deserved so much more recognition and financial success. It's an underrated masterpiece in my humble opinion, while Frozen has turned into a 90 minute-commercial for merchandise by now. Don't get me started on „Frozen „Fever“...6 minutes to justify the creation of a bazillion of new toys with new dresses...because we obviously didn't have enough Frozen-merchandise already.
This is going to give me nightmares. Seriously, WHO would ever buy / wear this???
I'm sick of the statement „Frozen teaches girls that you don't need a man to save you!“
No, no it doesn't. Without men Anna would have been dead after like 5 minutes.
Without Oaken's shop she would have frozen to death. Without the warm clothes he supplied she would have frozen to death. Kristoff took her up the mountain, she would have been completely lost without him. Kristoff saved them from the wolves. Olaf guided them to the ice castle. Kristoff saved them from the snow monster. Kristoff took her to the trolls who told them how to save Anna. Kristoff carried her back to the castle. Olaf lit the fireplace to warm her up. Olaf told her that Kristoff was in love with her, which was the only reason she gathered the strength to get up again. Heck, even Hans contributed to the happy ending, because if he hadn't dragged Elsa's angsty butt back to the castle she would have stayed in her ice castle forever and there would have been no way Anna could have sacrificed herself.
Stop ignoring all this just because of the cheesy „Love melts ice!“ ending. :|
