Happy Les Mis Trans Week! To celebrate, here’s Non-Binary!Jehan and Trans!Enjolras comparing the shirts their boyfriends made them for Pride! (Enj’s banner is ‘Fuck the Binary’ in binary)
A modern AU Jehan Prouvaire I drew ages ago but only just finished. I spent way too long on those tattoos.
I know it’s maybe silly but I really love the idea of genderfluid Eponine. Just, realising that they like being seen as different genders sometimes and dressing to suit how they feel, with pronouns changing depending on whether she is female, male, agender, or other. And the rest of Les Amis just check on pronouns all the time. sometimes people assume things because how Eponine wants to look or wear on certain days doesn’t match identity, but Jehan helps Ep feel better about it and they start a joint instagram /tumblr together with a name like ‘Fuck gender norms’ and posting pics of themselves, the rest of Les Amis, and just anyone they can find who doesn’t subscribe to gender norms because they all look awesome anyway. They never post pictures without permission. On the shared tumblr they post advice on how to deal with bigots and ideas for clothing and hairstyles to aid people in presenting how they want to on a given day, and Jehan doing amazing hair tutorials with their long hair. Eponine gives advice on clothing and videos about everyday life. Grantaire paints them both looking awesome and they take a photo and put it on the blog too. This started as genderfluid Eponine and turned into genderfluid Eponine and non binary Jehan being best friends and helping people fight the gender binary. I just love the idea of genderfluid Eponine being surrounded by friends who love and accept her no matter what her gender is that day.
