it's a short proverb, basically meaning not to do extremely tedious, chance-based things with little possibility for reward. i often hear it thrown over towards people who buy lottery tickets, or bet on rapidash races. the phrase can also take another meaning, which is to make sure that you have multiple goals in mind for everything. for example, you shouldn't get a job just because you want money, but because it can also make you happy and give fulfillment, or something like that.

y'all ever just think about how, when the movie princess and the froakie was first released, a bunch of kids just got hospitalized after trying to kiss a froakie themselves? or how jaws had caused a significant spike in sharpedo being hunted due to how drastically the public's perception of them changed– and that, in some places, their populations still haven't returned to their previous numbers?

all i can hope is that the upcoming 101 herdier reboot won't inspire anything..

cubone and marowak's "skulls" are actually just keratinous growths which act as a helmet, shielding their eyes from the harsh sandstorms their habitats are known for and protecting them from potential predators. the belief that these growths were the skulls of a dead mother originate in kantonese legend. although the exact myth has been lost to time, the idea still persists widely throughout kantonese popular culture, especially in cion/lavendar town.

shiny pokémon are called that due to many of them having particularly reflective or shiny eyes, and occasionally metallic-looking coats. the scientific name for the phenomenon is contrarinism, which is only found in pokémon!

in a study by johto's professor elm, most pokémon with contrarinism are rock and steel types, with normal and dragon types being the least likely to have the mutation.

despite popular belief, most klefki won't break into your house and steal your keys. they only exhibit kleptomaniacal behavior out of desperation when they're starved for the metal which they feed on. if you do see a klefki trying to brute force their way in, you should try giving them a bit of scrap metal to satiate their hunger!

so, neobyte has a bug in their coding that basically means that they cannot read or interpret some of their programming– for example, they can't use many moves associated with the species and have a hard time interacting with physical, non-organic objects. for these reasons, they aren't registered as one of my battling pokémon. instead, they're my companion who's been with me since i was a kid– instead of being thrown out, neobyte was left in the care of my uncle, who let my family adopt them.

neobyte is, for the most part, a very normal porygon. they really love going inside all of my electronics and messing with them, simply because that's one of the few things they can physically do. sometimes, they delete my spotify playlists, or they'll write me little notes, or they'll change my computer's entire layout and have my cursor changed into a gif of professor yukinari oak dancing.. for some reason. they've also been known to post things on my snapchat and instagram, but hopefully i've trained them enough to curb that habit.
