There's nothing in Hyrule that breaks my heart quite like horse death. That's why I hunt the Guardians.
I've tragically witnessed horse death in my adventures; even failed to rescue one or two horses from bokoblins who captured and felled them in their pursuit of me.
Only once have I failed one of my own horses.
Starshine was cut down shortly after we first met, near the ruins of Lon Lon Ranch at the hands of a Guardian we tried to outrun but I couldn't outmaneuver.
After walking to Malayna's fountain to revive her, and bringing her back to the stable for treats and rest, I didn't take her out for a long while. I felt too guilty, and the Guardian who cut her down was still out there.
Not anymore.
