re: my last post about non-concordance, it's also super important to note that some people have sexual intrusive thoughts and the sexual relevance of these thoughts may trigger physiological responses in the body. This does not, and i cannot emphasize this enough, does not mean that they are aroused by these thoughts.
Intrusive thoughts are unwanted, often frightening thoughts that bring to light not what we want, but what we fear. People with intrusive sexual thoughts are not fantasizing. Their minds are often arming them with worst case scenarios to keep them hyper vigilant to what could happen if they weren't super aware and let their guard down (this does not mean they would do these things, just that their anxiety brain makes them believe they will.)
sexual intrusive thoughts are extremely stigmatized and shamed, and if you suffer from them you may be hyper aware of any changes in your body to prove one way or another that your brain is right. I'm here to tell you that any physiological responses are not telling you that your deepest fears are actually true. You are not a danger to those around you. Your thoughts to not make you an unsafe person. You are okay.
