A couple days ago a friend got me thinking about quantum interpretation again and I almost wrote a post on it. Luckily you were all spared by my extreme laziness, and my having forgotten what I’d intended the thesis of the post to be by the time I got home from work.
Anyway, I continue to dislike Many-Worlds-ism for mainly social reasons.
#he showed me an article on superdeterminism#which I don't entirely love#well ok#given the options are:#non-determinism#non-locality#non-temporality#and superdeterminism#well I guess ALL the options suck#which is why most people throw their hands up in the air#say 'none of it makes sense so let's go with non-determinism because that's the most nihilistic option'#and stop thinking about it#but HONESTLY I think superdeterminism is even more nihilistic if anything#best I can tell the only way superdeterminism even WORKS is if you assume we aren't separate entities#all there is is the universe with various internal states#and ultimately the internal states don't matter much because CLEARLY the universe isn't interacting with anything#otherwise the correlations of superdeterminism would be broken and it wouldn't be superdeterministic anymore#it renders... everything we could ever observe as being even less than mere cogs in a machine#which is just boring#I mean I don't know maybe it's true#but it's BORING
