I go to a Reconciliation In Christ congrigation part-time, which is a wonderful thing that a Lutheran church can join that actively affirms, loves and protects LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC people in our congrigations. 10/10 I absolutely recommend it. This also means that my Pastor's kids know about LGBTQIA+ people and how we need to be loving and accepting to everyone.

So I came out to Pastor like, two years ago. And today over lunch she tells me that she sat down with her kiddos and explained that they should call me Mr. Blaine and use he/him or they/them pronouns when talking about me. This was the conversation that took place:

Pastor: You guys remember Blaine from church, right? They recently told us that he would like to be called he/him or they/them when we talk about him, okay? You can call him Mr. Blaine, Miss Blaine makes him very uncomfortable

Kid 1: Oh, okay

Kid 2: Okay. I'm confused, though

Pastor: That's okay, what are you confused on?

Kid 2: Blaine wears a lot of red lipstick

Kid 1: Oh, and heels! I like Blaine's heels

Pastor: . . . So we're gonna talk about something cool called gender non-conforming--

So she then explained to her kids that expression =/= gender, which is a good conversation to have, but I absolutely love that when these children thought of me, their first thought was my bold red lipstick and heels 😭🤣

- made this blog to explore / understand catholicism more. i was raised mormon but lost faith btwn 16-18. bounced around btwn agnostic and even practiced witchcraft (still do). ive found my way back to god but in an unexpected way. pope leo xiv becoming pope was the final nail in the coffin for me lol as a proud #chicagoan i felt more than called to catholicism

TONIGHT - Transgender Christian Zoom Meeting

Tonight July 8, 2021 at 630 PM EST we will be having a Zoom group meeting specifically for transgender people facilitated by myself, Rev. Michael Cardamone.  This is for anyone who considers themselves trans anywhere on the spectrum and at any point in their trans journey (whatever that journey means to you).

We will be studying Transforming: The Bible and the Lives of Transgender Christians by Austen Hartke.  This book is available on Kindle and Paperback.  If you don’t have a Kindle, you can download the Kindle app for your device (including desktops).
